For the price, this TV has very good specs and a beautiful picture (once you turn off some of the Automatic picture adjustments). But there are a few things that could be better:1. There's no real manual (items #2, #4 below belong in a manual)2. The remote does not have Pause/Start, Fast Forward, Rewind buttons for controlling streaming media. I found out (by googling) that the OK button can be used for Pause/Start and the two arrow buttons on either side of the OK button will do Fast Forward and Rewind.3. The USB ports currently support USB drives up to 32GB or smaller in size, which is ridiculous! If you insert a USB drive larger than 32GB it says there's a problem with the USB device! You can hardly find USB drives that small anymore. I want the TV to default to HDMI port 1 by default when it is turned on, however that is not possible as it always defaults to Google TV. Later I found out that you can set the power on default to be the Last Used input, which helps but is not the best solution because I want it to ALWAYS power on to the HDMI port 1.5. The TCL app on iOS cannot discover my TV, no matter what I tried. I tried both the WiFi and Bluetooth options and the app always said no devices were discovered. Do they ever test compatibility of their devices and their app?6. The Input ports on the back of the TV have very little space. As a result some of my HDMI cable connectors were too large, forcing me to try and insert them at an angle which might damage the port on the TV. I bought new HDMI cables that had smaller, thinner connectors in order to safely connect my HDMI devices.7. The volume level indicator only tells you whether you're turning the volume up or down. I would prefer if it showed you a number for the volume level. That way you could set the volume to a consistent level. If TCL could fix these things this would have been a 5 star review.

If you decide to leave "Motion Smoothing" on - decreasing the "Judder Reduction" and "Blur Reduction" to between 2-4 from 10 helps tremendously. Otherwise Motion Smoothing can just be turned off.I tested the sound quality of the built in speakers for a bit, but soon after hooked up my surround system. The built in speakers are acceptable at best and an external system is recommended.

I wanted a tv to watch movies, mainly streaming on apps via google tv. Ive used most of the streaming apps and have tried all the different picture, motion, clarity settings etc... and am disappointed to conclude that the main reason this tv was on sale for such a good price is because the motion is terrible.. Im not new to android TV, and the picture quality and brightness is really good on this tv but that is made useless by the horrendous stutter and judder on ALL apps watching anything. It feels like the camera is shakey and moving from side to side when watching movies causing dizziness and its very distracting. When something moves across the screen or has motion, there is very bad ghosting and lag effect. When something moves across the screen or has motion, there is very bad ghosting and lag effect. Turning on the Motion settings for Blur and Judder Reduction turns movies into the soap opera effect which i hate BTW. It makes the scenes cut and transition too fast and makes movies move like its 120+ fps. If i put these settings to 1,1 its manageable but i hate to settle for this. I might as well spend $300 more for a Sony or Samsung that wont have these motion issues. I get that TCL is not your top tier brand and yes they are evolving, but this model tv is in the too early stages to be adequate for ppl that actually care about good picture and motion quality and not settle for less. Perhaps TCL may fix this with better processors in the future and better quality. Sorry TCL, but the great brightness from this Mini LED wont distract me from the real motion problems here. I wonder why this is not being talked about too much from content creators, comments, and online in general. There are a few posts that highlight the issues but, I wish i would've seen these warnings before buying the tv and searching online only after experiencing the problem. Now i have to deal with the hassle of returning this which is not where I want to be. This is why i have always gone with top tier brands. Lesson learned.
The TCL 55QM751G is a smart QD-Mini LED TV that displays up to 4K. The TV provides plenty of connectivity and has 4 HDMI ports. The remote control is back lit which helps when watching TV at night. The picture quality out of the box on the TV is not the best. But with some minor calibration, the colors are displayed beautifully. HDR and SDR programs look very sharp and bright. The peak brightness on the HDR is good, which makes watching HDR programs visually appealing. This TV also supports Dolby Vision, which is my preferred viewing method for TV shows and movies. I do not have a gaming system hooked up to this TV, so I was not able to test the Game mode.Usually, speakers on these TVs are not the best. But I was pleasantly surprised with the speakers on this TV. A dedicated sound system will always provide the best sound. However, the speakers on this TV do a good job of providing enriching sound. The bass-enhancing speaker in the back is not a gimmick as it provides some decent bass to the set.TCL pays attention when it comes to packaging materials for the protection of the TV. The shipping materials used are of good quality, which provided the TV with plenty of protection during shipping. This resulted in no damage to the TV.This is my first Mini-LED TV, and it won't be my last. Overall, this is a great TV, and TCL is doing a good job in establishing its brand as it competes with Sony, Samsung, LG, and others. I will definitely try out other TCL products in the future.
I researched multiple brands of TVs for many months knowing that my time was limited on my 10 year old Vizio M70. When the old TV started failing to startup correctly and multiple attempts became the norm and I didn't want to wait until complete failure....so, I went back to my research. A Best Buy employee used the term "high end budget TV" when I was quizzing him about various brands and making some comparisons. I decided to purchase the TCL QM7 over the QM8 because the biggest difference was upgraded internal speakers and tuner/processor in the QM8. I already have SONOS 7.1 setup so I didn't need the speaker upgrade and I wasn't willing to pay the extra $500 just to get the tuner/processor upgrade. Also when compared to my 10 year old Vizio anything I purchased was sure to be an upgrade...and I was right.I first connected my AppleTV and continued to use the new TCL like I used my old Vizio like. a monitor (the Vizio was old enough that it did not support the majority of the streaming apps available today...hence the AppleTV. After a day of viewing pleasure I decided to setup the YouTube app that was available on the TCL to take advantage of the 120MHz refresh rate.I was please with my new TCL before I took the AppleTV out of the viewing equation. What I thought was a decent upgrade was quickly a night/day difference especially when streaming 4k content. Eliminating the inputs is definitely the way to go. Would an $5000 OLED TV be better than what the TCL QM7? Perhaps! but I got this on sale for just under $1000. I am very pleased with my TV and would, and have, recommended to a friend.
From some.of the early reviews I went into this with high hopes, but sadly was left feeling underwhelmed.Build quality: While mostly plastic the few metal pieces along the bezels made for a premium look from the front of the display.Picture Quality: Center of the display from about 6-8ft image quality is initially impressive, but both vertical and horizontal off angle viewing causes the image to wssh out.It may also be my unit, but during widescreen HDR viewing the black bars are bright gray and no matter the setting they cant be fixed. When HDR ia turned off black bars appear slightly darker, but aren't black as intended.Colors also appear overly orange causing people to appear orange and skin tones make them look bruised with the shaded transitions going ... MoreFrom some.of the early reviews I went into this with high hopes, but sadly was left feeling underwhelmed.Build quality: While mostly plastic the few metal pieces along the bezels made for a premium look from the front of the display.Picture Quality: Center of the display from about 6-8ft image quality is initially impressive, but both vertical and horizontal off angle viewing causes the image to wssh out.It may also be my unit, but during widescreen HDR viewing the black bars are bright gray and no matter the setting they cant be fixed. A s mentioned it could simply have been my unit, but its something to watch out for.
We bought the TCL 98QM751G from Best Buy to go up in size from the LG we brought into our new home. We did our research and bought the TCL Class QM7-Series. You can’t tell until you live with it, but after watching and exploring the features and settings we are happy with the performance and value of the TCL.First thing - we had it delivered by Best Buy and that went seamlessly. We selected a day and they communicated well, calling us a ½ hour before arriving. Nice guys and perfect condition.Although Best Buy was offering free installation, we installed it ourselves using a wall mount. That’s just our preference (there’s a retired engineer in the house) we had no issues, and the packaging is very clever as far as unpacking and attaching the legs or wall mount without actually lifting the set.Once installed, set up was easy with the google home app, and the pre-installed apps let us get Netflix and our other services running quickly. The motion activated backlit remote control is nice too, since we like a slightly darker room “theatre” experience. Now on to the good part - watching it! The picture quality is great, bright with good color and black level. Football and holiday movies? Check! There are a lot of adjustments and viewing modes, etc. if you want to fine tune the picture to your room and watching habits. For us the picture was pretty good right out of the box (we adjusted the brightness a little). The controls are easy to find and use. The included screensaver “art” is amazing! As far as sound, we plan on re-installing our surround sound system, but we’ve watched for a while now with the built-in speaker/subwoofer. There is plenty of volume and full balanced sound, definitely not “tinny”. It even includes a 7-band equalizer! Flat screen TV’s don’t usually sound this good. If you’re not a fan of full surround/rear speakers or want to wait to get a surround system then this is all you need. This is a super value in a 98” TV. Great picture and sound in an easy to use package. You could spend more but were glad we didn't!
I purchased the 55Q751G last week, from Best Buy. I plan to go back in and see if I can set-up Roku and use that, which I am very familiar with.I did look at the Roku TV higher end TV. Then read that Roku TV, not being a TV mfg, utilized TCL or Hisense manufacturing. The TCL 55QM751G, is manufactured in Mexico, according to my box label. The Picture Quality on the TCL 55QM751G is OUT OF THIS WORLD for MOVIES! The Denon AVR has upscaling from 1080i video from DTV Satellite. The TCL has some upscaling too, from streaming providers. I am very HAPPY with this TCL 55QM751G[2024 Model] This TCL replaced a 9 year old TCL Roku and my wife has a 2 year old TCL S555 Roku
First of all let me just say thanks to Best Buy for getting me this tv a day earlier than expected as I am on vacation and get to now enjoy this new tv a little more lol. The unpackaging of this tv and setup was easy. Thank you TCL for making this painless and not including a heavy metal plate for the stand, some may say thats cheap but to me it makes it easier for anyone to easily setup which is the point. The tv with the stand looks great and appears to have room for a soundbar in front. But the audio on this tv is good! I have a $800 samsumg soundbar that I dont even miss because this tv sounds good enough. It has a subwoofer in the back and the speakers on this tv is supported by onkyo. With what the Q7 already did in terms of contrast and brightness with still controlling blooming, this TV just surpasses it. Black levels are really good. Of course it is not OLED but OLED can not get that bright and if so you risk burn in. Maybe not now but long term. Check out Rtings website who do test on Tv’s for longevity and OLED’s do get burn in. Anyway I passed on last years QM8 and this seems like that TV from the reviews I have seen for it. As the new QM8 for 2024 seems to be taking a step up. Kudos to TCL for really upgrading their TV’s. As for the picture quality it has great setting adjustments as well as being able to set it to to an auto adjustment picture for HDR content. Game mode is still great like last year with the same game bar. The remote is the same as last years but that was already good (remote is backlit). The google operating system is quick and snappy. No lag and no issues loading apps. I have the 55 inch model and this is my personal Tv for gaming and watching my favorite movies at night. Anyone interested should definitely give this Tv a try, I am not bias to any tv brand as I have a Sony X90L in my living room, an LG OLED in another room and a Samsung Q90. Thanks again to Best Buy and TCL.
