The Amazing Spider-Man 2 [Pre-Owned]

In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, players once again assume the role of the iconic Super Hero in a unique side-story inspired by the feature film but set in its own continuity. Throughout his journey, Spider-Man will encounter a number of new foes as well as some old friends, as he confronts a new threat to his beloved city. The narrative will give Peter Parker, Spider-Man’s nerdy photojournalist persona, a greater role in the spotlight, as he investigates the complicated motivations and unique personalities behind the menagerie of Marvel menaces threatening Manhattan. As Spidey, players will be able to free-roam through a greatly-enhanced Manhattan cityscape, one set to offer livelier, more engaging opportunities with which to put his sensational skills to use. Central to the expansive depth and detail being poured into The Amazing Spider-Man 2 video game is the new “Hero or Menace” system, which incentivizes Super Hero behaviour by rewarding the web-slinger’s crime-fighting efforts, and adds consequences for letting criminality fester. Spider-Man’s personal brand of web-swinging and up-close-and-personal combat will see a variety of new features as well.

I see a lot of unwarranted negative reviews for this game, which troubles me since, by and large, I've had a lot of fun with this game. Some people out there apparently have sky-high expectations for new games, and expect every one to have the polish of a Grand Theft Auto V, Far Cry 3 or Batman Arkham. The big improvement is that web slinging must now attach to a building (instead of thin air), which makes web slinging through the city 10 times more fun than before. It's a web mechanic we haven't seen since 2004's Spiderman 2 on the PS2, a game that many remember fondly as the peak of Spiderman gaming (but which actually is an pixelated mess and almost unplayable now -- I recently popped it in a PS2 and was shocked by how bad it looked.)The combat mechanics are similar to Arkham; though not as good as Arkham, the Spidey animations look good. The main missions are repetitive and nowhere near as engaging as bigger-budget games -- a lot of missions are built around a stealth mechanic that at least makes game play interesting. The bosses are OK, but not show-stoppers.All the collectible.

This is a fun game. There are a couple of glitches in the game I noticed. The graphics are not phenomenal but that's due to the 3DS' graphic capability. The levels are cool and I love the stealth mode in the game. There are some frustrating moments in the game but I enjoyed this game.

Solid Game. Fun.They actually made a lot of improvements since the first game which add depth to the game play. The combat system is smoother but still a few steps behind the Arkham franchise. Overall Spider-Man looks better than ever (a lot of skins to unlock as well) and it's a fun game. Worth the $30 -$35 price tag on Xbox113 people found this helpful

The only other Spider-man game I've had previous to this one is Web of Shadows (WoS) so I will compare and contrast it to it. First, I will say that the combat mode makes for some great hand-to-hand fighting that reminds me a good bit of Arkham combat with Batman. After a while of undisturbed combo hits during combat, you get the chance to enact a special which will finish off the victim in a variety of pretty sweet moves. Although his moves that you can upgrade are pretty useful, there's not much when it comes to variety in using them in combination with each other in contrast with WoS where tons of different combinations are possible.Second, the web swinging is probably the best feature of this game. It's very versatile and realistic when it comes to swinging around NY since you can't web swing if there's nothing to web swing from. Your later upgrades will make this a lot more fun as well.Third, the battles that show up on the map throughout the game can often get very repetitive. After an hour into the game, you basically cycle through the ones you've already encountered throughout the rest of your gameplay. I could also do without the cut scene for each fight. In WoS, you can come and go into the fights that show up on the map without cut scenes which is super nice.Fourth, the story mode doesn't follow the movie it's based upon, but it's a nice consistent one that you'll enjoy going throughout the game. The mini-bosses make for some great fights which incorporate.

It's taken a while (like 10 years), but Spider-Man is finally back in a good game. And it's pretty damn good.Full disclosure: I have played just about every non-handheld Spider-Man game since they went 3-D with the 2000 PS1 Spider-Man game. That Spider-Man game was great for its time but it was the 2004 Spider-Man 2 game that really nailed the formula, with the first open-world Manhattan setting and the first web-swinging system where the webs hit nearby buildings. For the first time since Web of Shadows, the web-lines connect to the nearby buildings so that you are actually swinging from a building and not from the sky. The right/left hand options were a brilliant idea, as it gives you more control of where you're swinging from. The complexities are fun: which buttons you press, when you let go, or how high or low you're swinging, or when you switch from one hand to the other, all affect different aspects of your velocity and swinging arcs. And if you want to keep it simple, you can opt to avoid the complexities by just keeping your finger on the swing button and not pressing any other buttons at all: it has the same effect of driving on automatic rather than manual. You'll swing pretty.

I own every single Spider-Man game to date. I'm a Spider-Man nut and the moment any of these games hit the market they hit my system for some swing time. This is one of the better Spider-Man games on the market and certainly the best Beenox made Spider-Man game. There have been some big changes this time around. For example you actually have to think about which hand to use while web slinging since you can shoot webbing with your right and left hand using the right and left triggers. And attempting to shoot a webline from the wrong hand can make you fall. It also helps while turning corners to shoot with the corresponding hand. I put the first game back in my system to make sure and as it turns out the web rush system worked much better in the first Amazing Spider-Man game. Every time you'd push the web rush button in the first game it worked. It seems like half the time you push the web rush button in this new game it doesn't work. I'm glad the web rush is back, I just wish they took the time to make it work as well as it did in the first game. So what about the improvements?Unlimited crime! Better swing mechanics! Smoother combat! A better story line! More classic villains! More than a dozen different costumes that actually effect gameplay! Stealth gameplay has been vastly improved! A nice variety in side missions! And Peter Parker missio.

Pros:.The combat system is very similar to the Arkham games. The side missions have been integrated into the overall flow of the game. You need to work on them as you complete the story or else you have a harder time. The boss fights were relatively simple, but were pretty long which made them great. The villain choices were excellent. (Kingpin, Carnage, Kraven, Shocker, Black Cat, Electro, Green Goblin. My only complaint is no Rhino)The nods to the history of Spider-Man were plentiful. (People, places, things such as costumes from the character's entire history, visiting Oscorp and the Daily Bugle, running into or hearing from everyone from Aunt May to J.Jonah Jameson)Cons:The animations are a bit choppy and the graphics aren't exactly eye popping (I find this to be ... MorePros:.The combat system is very similar to the Arkham games. The side missions have been integrated into the overall flow of the game. It's not the most involved or best looking game ever, but it's not supposed to be. This game puts you in Spider-Man's shoes and let's you swing around New York while fighting crime. That's it. For me, that's exactly what I want to do. If you need more in depth gaming than that then I think you already know that this game is not for you.

Really fun and short Spiderman game you can play on the xbox series x.
27 April 2021

I paid $60, and think it was an awesome deal. The combat was like Arkham batman games. The story is meh. Love hearing Stan Lee's voice. I played the game on ps4 and absolutely loved the game. It is horribly short. I beat it on the 360. The reason for my purchase was I wanted a good and fun Spiderman game on my xbox series x, and now I have one. I plan to collect every comic book and stuff this time around. Fun game, some really good mini games, and fun action. I give it a 8/10.
