Instructions do not make sense. My bird got very tangled when he mixed it all up and caused him to go crazy and fight this thing. When I tried to take it off, he bit me like crazy, and he’s a sun conure. Hes has a bald spot now on his head and I’m literally shaking and crying right now. His foot ain’t okay either.

I am really impressed by how this product is made. It is extremely well constructed and just the right size for my little Quaker. One thing I would say, though, is that the video that comes with it, although extremely informative, does not give a lot of detail about how to train smaller birds. I made the mistake of using the same technique shown on the video and had to hugely backtrack because my bird just was not ready for it.This product can be absolutely fantastic and give a bird lots of freedom BUT it is a really tough behaviour for a bird to learn and, as I have discovered, really important not to rush. Take the time to read as many online articles and watch as many GOOD videos as you can. But I think a lot of birds are put off by the over-excitement of their owners and this prevents them from having the experiences they could have outside. It is definitely worth a buy, but only if both owner and bird take their time!

Fit my african grey and he was happy to put it on. He flew a bit and the bungee cord came straight off. Bird was on top of his cage with the harness and I was left with the leash. Glad I wasnt outside when this happened or I could have lost him, he,s only a baby. I feel the clamp holding the leash to the rest of the harness is inadequate. Have asked other people how they got on with theirs and one woman had her bird outside when this happened, others have sent me pictures of the clamps on theirs. Its a pity that this small thing lets the harness down but it could mean birds are lost. Be aware of this problem if you buy this harness

I thought my green cheek was quite petite, but the neck hole looked and felt overly small and was a struggle to get it off without cutting it.Otherwise the quality was good.Shame, as this brand is what everyone recommends.
Hi,We been using this harness for several months now. We managed to harness train our Green Wing Macaw within two weeks. We now use the harness to take him outside including trips to our local park. You may want to consider buy a harness extension if you are planing on free flight training. We have the medium extension and are about to buy the longest one. There are video of our harness training and our Macaw Maui flying with the Harness, on our YouTube channel... search Macaw Takeover.
Fantastic development by this company. Fits perfectly on my tiel, lightweight and comfortable. important to follow the DVD instructions never force this on your bird, I have found playing with it around your bird with their favourite treats the best start. Minimum of 2 weeks of familiarity. Time spent early on reassuring your bird will pay dividends in the future where the world opens up in the summer time. Fantastic invention.
I bought this for my kakariki after initially trying the petite size, which was a fraction too big for her. She was much happier in this. It took training to get her used to it and the handling needed to put it on her, so it is worth taking the time to make it a positive experience. It is lovely to sit in the garden with her without her being in her cage or worrying about her getting lost. She can also go for little flights into the trees or onto the grass, which is lovely.
This harness fits snugly over our Blue and Gold Macaw Rio. There is no hooks or fasteners which is ideal for training younger birds. I found in the other harness we had Rio found fasteners uncomfortable and was not to keen on wearing it. Now we say walkies and she enjoys getting out to the garden for a good flap and watching the wild birds. I would recommend training young birds at an early age as the harness has to go over the head and wings. Older birds might be afraid !!! Very sturdy and safe piece of equipment , but read instructions and watch DVD supplied. Remember birds will fly if startled !!
This is a wonderful harness that is escape proof, comfortable and safe and allows my parrot to go for little flights into the trees, on to her perch or around me. It does take some training with handling and getting used to the harness and it takes time getting the bird both used to the harness and to being outside without bars around it, but its worth it. It takes practice taking the harness on and off for the human as well as the bird! Be careful on the sizing however. I got the petite for my kakariki and it was just a little too big it fit her well but the buckle hung a little low on the top of her leg and irritated her so I switched to the mini and she is much happier.
Well, "everyone" speaks so good about this harness.. "It is safe, and the bird doesnt get anywhere....." ....as long as it dont bite the harness to pieces that is! It is welded nylon, the birds get a good hold on the seems and chew like crazy. They are hard welded/melted nylon so it comes off easily. Should have been metal braces or some sort of protection over the seems. I am not impressed at all..
