I am really impressed by how this product is made. It is extremely well constructed and just the right size for my little Quaker. One thing I would say, though, is that the video that comes with it, although extremely informative, does not give a lot of detail about how to train smaller birds. I made the mistake of using the same technique shown on the video and had to hugely backtrack because my bird just was not ready for it.This product can be absolutely fantastic and give a bird lots of freedom BUT it is a really tough behaviour for a bird to learn and, as I have discovered, really important not to rush. Take the time to read as many online articles and watch as many GOOD videos as you can. But I think a lot of birds are put off by the over-excitement of their owners and this prevents them from having the experiences they could have outside. It is definitely worth a buy, but only if both owner and bird take their time!

I’ve been free flight training birds for a while and after readying the hype over aviator harnesses thought I’d give one a go. Honestly, I’m not not impressed.Firstly, the fact you can’t detach the lead is madness as a bird needs to feel comfortable first and foremost in a harness without a long dangly thing below them. Massive design flaw.Secondly, under flight the harness has the ability to ride up under the wings aggregating the joints… no matter how well you fit it (admittedly this is the conversation on a dozen macaws).Overall I didn’t like and it’s in the bin

I bought the size base on my bird and how much she weighs. I trained her for months to get accustomed to it and finally got it on but when it was time to take it off I had to cut it off and she freaked out. So gonna have to start training all over again. I ordered a bigger size.

Hi,We been using this harness for several months now. We managed to harness train our Green Wing Macaw within two weeks. We now use the harness to take him outside including trips to our local park. You may want to consider buy a harness extension if you are planing on free flight training. We have the medium extension and are about to buy the longest one. There are video of our harness training and our Macaw Maui flying with the Harness, on our YouTube channel... search Macaw Takeover.
I've been looking for a bird leash just like this for years. Also, I received the wrong sized leash at first -- which might well have been my fault. I received a replacement right away for no additional cost. A great experience!
This is a wonderful product. I worked with Loki daily to get her used to the harness. It took about 2 weeks. Today I took her out for a walk and visit. She picked at it a.little but for the most part is gettig used to it.The thing to remember is it is not 1 and done. It takes time. She was very opposed to to the harness to begin with. She still needs a little convincing but will willingly put her head in.She is a cockatiel if the harnesses for larger birds are the same material I can see where it can be chewed thru quickly, but for a small bird it is great.
Purchased the "petite" for my green cheek conure as both the label and website instruction video says that's the size for a GCC. Head loop is much too small, I won't even risk trying to put it on. The conure in the instructional video on the website can easily fit it's head through with plenty of room, this size wouldn't even get around my birds head.
Size XX-Small fit my cockatiel well. He loves going to the beach and I wanted him to be able to come out of his carrier safely. It was definitely a struggle to get this harness on. Instructions weren't very clear. I found a YouTube video of someone putting it on their cockatiel and wouldn't have been able to get it on without the video. Once I figured out how to get it on and adjust it, it sat well enough. My cockatiel was able to move around well in it, and it felt secure. The length of the leash portion is good. It would be better if the leash part connected to the harness part with an omnidirectional fastener to allow for more fluid movement. I had to move around my cockatiel as he was walking around so that the leash wouldn't get in his way or wrap around ... MoreSize XX-Small fit my cockatiel well. I hope wearing it will go more smoothly in the future as I have a better idea now of how it works.Pricier than what it's worth and needs some getting used to, but overall a solid product that serves its purpose. Hope it proves to be durable long term.
I’ve been training birds for a number of years now and thought I’d give the aviator harness a go based on the reviews I’ve read.Unfortunately, I don’t share the same opinion and it’s in the bin.The fact you can’t detach the leash from the harness is a massive flaw, particularly when training new birds to be harnessed. The added weight and cord which dangles and can wrap around their feet negatively reinforces any positive experience you are trying to exposure your parrot to.Personally, I’m shocked with all the good reviews as I certainly don’t recommend this as a training aid
I ordered mine according to the sizing they have. I have a green cheek conure, it says petite if for conure size but that was too small. I still tried to put it on him and that was a big mistake, my poor bird almost died, it would not come off and I had to hold him tight to untangle him and take it off! Horrible experience and I don’t think I’ll be trying another harness again.
