Super-tough and versatile, the Base Camp Rolling Thunder 22" blends both mountain durability and high-level organisation for frequent flying or weekend adventures. It has a sizeable 40 litres of space but fits in most airlines' overhead storage. And being made from ultra-durable recycled Base Camp fabric with an improved hard-shell chassis designed to handle travelling around the world over and over again, it stands up to long-term, rugged use – just like its predecessor. The custom-moulded wheels make light work of rolling, even on gravelly terrain. Webbing compression straps let you secure belongings or compress the bag when it’s not full. And padded side and top handles are super-comfortable and allow for multiple carrying positions. There are tonnes of pockets for travel essentials and dirty clothes, as well as webbing points that allow you to clip on additional items. If you need to save space, you can push down clothing using the internal compression panel. Plus, to keep valuables safe, the zip is lockable, giving you peace of mind when your main focus is the end destination.

I don't even own this piece of luggage, but I've added it to my wish list and am reviewing it. I travel a lot, and I played with it in the store and am pronouncing it the carry-on I've been searching for. It's solid, but not heavy when empty (ahem, I won't mention other brands that already feel full before the bag is packed). The handle feels industrial, in a good way. The clam shell design is almost unheard of in soft-sided luggage, and I find it the most efficient way to pack. And the outside zipped pocket is perfect for stuffing in my wallet, passport, and phone as I'm rushing to pass through the security check at the airport. One caveat - this is a two-wheeled bag, not a spinner. One caveat - this is a two-wheeled bag, not a spinner. I have personally tended towards spinners, thinking they are more advanced, but in this case, I would go with the two wheels. The lack of two additional wheels seems to leave more space for packing and the feel while rolling is better. As soon as my current bag wears out, this will be my go-to.

Been on two trips so far since purchasing the base camp rolling thunder 22 and absolutely love it. Best carry on I've had. I personally don't like luggage that rolls with 4 wheels, so this 2 wheel base is perfect for me. Also fits way more than it would appear, the separate compartments inside are great!

More space than expected, great handles(s) placement on every side, good pockets so you don't need to potentially bring a backpack (on business), love the red wheels and stanchions which make it easy to spot in case of need to check in luggage on a plane trip. Just awesome. Considering buying a second one. Perfect for 1-3 night business trips.

I used this bag for my travel to Ecuador, and all along inside the country. Being in a rainy and cold, mountainous region with a bunch of nature visits, this bag withstood all.As a bonus, I got this bag checked both ways, and it has zero damage or scuff marks. Protected all my valuables and kept them dry.
I've used this half a dozen times since purchase, and I'm very satisfied with the product. The capacity is excellent for the 22" and I like that stanchions take up minimal amount of space, enabling for more storage space. The red wheels make the bag easy to identify if checking bag for flights. Durable, quality materials; love that the handles are on all 4 sides, and there are plenty of pockets for laptop and other items if you don't want to carry a backpack on trips. Honestly, exceeded expectations.
Just took this bag on a road trip. It's spacious with sturdy handles and held all of the gear I needed ffor a three day trip. Flying to Japan in a month and plan to takes this as my carry on. I also own the 36" version for longer trips and expeditions. Thiese are the best bags I've owned.
Just taken this little roller case across france on trains and busses, getting a fair amount of travel abuse on the way. The case has held up really well so far, the telescopic handle is smooth and comfy to pull the case around fully loaded and the wheels have taken on gravel, cobbles and train station platforms with easy. Very happy!
This is the 5th North Face Luggage I've purchased since 2009. I have (2) 36 5lbs Rolling Duffel Bags that I've had since 2009. And another smaller Rolling Thunder 21 and another Base Camp Rolling Thunder 22. These Rolling Thunder 22 bags are simply so spacious and compact at the same time! It's the reason I bought 2! Thank You again at North Face for the best luggage out there! You folks ROCK!!!
I am a big fan of Northface luggage. I would never buy anything else. I bought this online and was expecting a basic carry-on like my last one. The pictures did not show any of the details of the bag and do not give an accurate description of this awesome bag! This is a big improvement from their prior carry-ons. It has a nice sleeve for the laptop. A nice cushion pocket for your wallet and valuables. It has extra pockets inside the case. Very roomy on the inside as compared to other carry-ons. The case is very well built, the wheels are top-notch, the handle is nice and long and durable. I give this a 10 star!
It would be ideal if this were slightly smaller as it is a bit larger than the allowed bc it's over 9'' which is Alaska Airlines & American Airlines max. So far both Airlines have allowed the bag. The bag is very nice and spacious. I wish it had a sleeve for a waterbottle-used a carabiner last flight and clipped the water bottle on that way. However, I knew both of those downsides when I bought it so it's still a 5star bag.
