Comfortable for medium distance hiking in wet conditions!

I purchased these for a recent trip to Iceland where we did a good amount of hiking, to include waterfalls and gorges. They worked great! Proved to actually be waterproof, which was extremely important for my use in cold, rainy weather. They were perfect for me, as I did not want to purchase full on hiking boots since I'm not a huge hiker and probably wouldn't wear again. These gave me plenty of support and tread on slippery rocks. My only note is to be sure to wear socks with heel tabs, as I got some nasty blisters when breaking in before my trip. Other than that, they're great!

I found these shoes very comfortable, with good cushioning. They feel like a good running shoe almost, in that if you were walking, they will help propel you forward. I bought these after trying on a few other brands, which felt very hard under my feet. They are very slightly arduous to put on, as the lace holes are twinned, but probably designed so that once on, will stay snug and not loosen.I am interested to see how durable they are. I have struggled to find comfortable hiking shoes since my previous pair of North Face shoes, which lasted a good few years! The material is light, and I am hoping they will be strong. The only other feedback I would suggest, is that stores stock half sizes. I would have liked to be able to try them in a size 6.5, but it was ... MoreI found these shoes very comfortable, with good cushioning. The size 7 fit comfortably too however, as they are snug around the ankle, and there will be space for my feet if they swell a bit, after a few hours of walking.I also like the colour - a nice dark sagey-green with pale pink laces, which look great! They feel light and comfortable to wear out and about too, the tread does not feel too pokey underfoot on flat ground.

Had to size up from a 4 to 5 which allowed plenty room for thick socks. Super lightweight and very sticky soles. I was excited to wear them out walking on a trip to the Western Isles off the north west of Scotland. Day one all good, super comfortable and the sticky souls felt secure. Day two; slightly showery, damp underfoot and my feet were soaked through - two pairs of socks completely sodden! So much for claims of being waterproof. My ancient Gortex walking shoes could withstand a running stream and this was only wet grass. So very disappointed . It's back to the drawing board.

I am a convert - at this stage anyway
26 May 2023

I brought these as a light weight hike shoe (have worn Merrel Moab gortex for the past 15 years) and found them to be super comfortable. The footbed feels more cushioned than my Merrells. You definitely notice the rocker sole when you first start wearing and I can see how it would help with forward propulsion. So far I have only used them for short distances (<10km) formed track walking and have been really happy so far. Will be interesting to see how they go in the wet. Super happy with my purchase so far and finding they are more comfy then my Merrells.

Loved them, but they came apart on me TWICE
29 October 2022

I absolutely love the North Face brand of products and I have always loved their shoes. I purchased this style back in March. It fit great and was so comfortable, but within 3 months I started to notice my heel was forming a sore. I looked closely and saw that the inside of the shoe had completely come apart, and a piece of bunched up cloth was rubbing on my foot, causing the sore. Knowing the North Face quality is much better than this, I contacted REI and was sent a replacement pair. I was SO disappointed that the second pair ALSO began to come apart. This time it happened on both shoes. This were worn minimally and were very cared for. I never snagged them on anything and no animal dug at them. I am sadly returning these for a full refund at this point. Love ... MoreI absolutely love the North Face brand of products and I have always loved their shoes. I purchased this style back in March. Love everything about these shoes, except for the fact that for some reason they seem to be poorly made and self-destructed on me, not once, but twice.

Most comfortable shoe I own!
18 May 2023

Love these for hiking or wearing around a city. Just left Venice Italy and regretted not having them with me. I need their waterproof protection and sturdy support/protection on the wet cobblestones. Were ideal when hiked in Yosemite or on trails closer to home. I wear them a lot, especially in the winter when i wear them instead of sneakers. These shoes are comfortable right out of the box! Wore my first pair out so had to buy new ones. I hope they never stop making these shoes!!

My narrow feet love these!
29 July 2023

I never leave reviews but thought it appropriate this time! I saw the complaints about these shoes not being for wide feet, and I actually got excited. Could these be the shoes of my dreams? My feet are super narrow, so much so that at my ski boot fitting the tech called them "blades" lol. I have a hard time finding shoes and boots that ever feel securely fitting enough and I usually have to settle for just lacing things up as tight as they'll go. These fit me nice and snug and my feet feel so happy! I have just worn them around the yard, but I'm off to Costa Rica for 2 weeks and I think these puppies will treat me well! Yay!

Not as comfortable as the Hedgehog
1 February 2023

I was a bit disappointed with this new model. I wanted to try something different from the Hedgehog but the Vectiv are not as comfortable. I'll keep them for shorter city walks but wouldn't go hiking with those. The Vectiv shoes tend to balance your feet a bit and propel you forward, it feels more like running than walking shoes. The cushioning is good under the sole but not so good under the heel. I might change the insole to reduce the impact on my heels. At least the sizing was right, maybe a bit smaller than used to be. I am a regular size 4 but always take size 5 for trainers.

Not true to size.

The product arrived very quickly and neatly packed. The product on first viewing looked stylish and the part for a good country walk or trek. Then you realise that these shoes are another TNF over-hype and exaggeration. My normal size is a UK4 and so the order was that as they quite clearly state true to size. Could not get my foot in to even try as the access point is too small and too tight as there is no elasticated dart to the sides. This was returned and replaced with a UK4.5 this was tried and managed to get my feet in to try but again too narrow at the instep and toe box. These are all the problems previous experienced with later TNF shoes so all the hype stated has not been carried out and merely a facelift for the older product. Also when trying on at home it was noted that the footbed did not seem compatible with slight warping to the outer side of shoe which seemed very strange so how it would perform on rough terrain is anyone's guess. The sole seemed robust and also the weight is perfect being comparatively light compared with competitors. But in conclusion not for me as I do not want toe packing to get the required width and toe box comfort, especially at these prices.

Warning: Runs small! In most sneakers brands, I am either 6,5 or 7, so I thought 7 would be fine in these shoes, but nope. I went to the store and ended up buying 7.5 and even considered 8. Definitely size up! It is not narrow for my feet, which are neither narrow nor wide, though.I got them in goblin blue, love the color. Not a huge fan of the design but this looked the best to me among the available designs. Wore them on my way back home since it started to rain a lot; I had training socks without any cushioning on, the left half irritated the back of my ankle and would have probably blistered it if I had to hike in them today, but the front side of the shoes are not too stiff; I think your feet wouldn't hurt after the break-in day. They were waterproof today, ... MoreWarning: Runs small!
