Really like this bike, I?ve been ridding for 34 years and this has been the most fun I?ve had on two wheels in a long time. The bike rides really well on both gravel paths and asphalt, comfortable and stable and without power it feels like a normal bike. The mixed GRX components all work well and I really like the brakes, true one finger stoppers. The Ebikemotion system is pretty well thought out, simple in execution and simple to use. I use the Urban preset which gives me 40, 105 and 225 watts. Low power feels like a gentle tail wind and middle gives a pretty good push and is more than I need on the flats. My typical ride is 1 hr out on low power, 1 hour back on medium and high power for big hills only. I get a great aerobic workout and really wasn?t expecting that. I use roughly 40 - 50% of the battery charge in 2 hrs.The first time I charged the bike I plugged it in and after several hours, the bike fully charged, but had left an error code. Since then I monitor with the Ebikemotion App and stop it at 100% with no errors. The new and improved App could use more improving. The upshot is you have to leave your phone paired and near the bike before charging and all during the charge to monitor. Could it be my phone? My only two complaints would be the saddle and brakes. The saddle being very tough on the bum but that was quickly remedied with cycling liners or shorts. The brakes came out the shop squeaking but I’ll check back in at my local REI or Bike Shop and see how that can be fixed, stopping power isn’t an issue though which is more important.I’m very inexperienced with cycling but I have no complaints at all about this bike after 105 miles. Currently I run a top tube bag from REI, a single bottle cage, and a front/rear Bontrager ION100R combo light set for visibility on all my daily rides. Super excited to add hundreds of more miles along with potential upgrades that are available for this platform.P.S.: For pedals since they aren’t included, I bought a set of Bontrager hybrid flat/SPD pedals from a local bike shop to hold me over while I consider stepping into the “clip less” cycling shoe game.

First of all this bike feels really good for an electric bike. It rides well even with the power off and the power delivery is smooth and well matched so it feels like you're a beast. It's much lighter than most electric bikes (still heavy). A minor gripe is that the gearing is super low so if you're commuting on the road you're gonna be way out on the end of the cassette all the time. I haven't had any luck with finding a larger chainring for it.The big issue I've been having is a mostly with Cannondale and a bit with REI: The wheels are just not up to the job and feel like a skimp for such a high end bike. We'll leave aside the tires but you're gonna want to change them. I've had many broken spokes which led me to believe that the wheel was poorly laced by REI; ... MoreFirst of all this bike feels really good for an electric bike. After I got a second opinion, I was advised that the WTB rims on the bike have a tendency to split; while they would re-lace them for me they felt Cannondale should be replacing them with something more suitable. Unfortunately Cannondale won't really communicate with the consumer directly and in the meantime I'm without my ride. So, really nice bike BUT I'd really rather get something like it from another manufacturer and maybe my normal local bike shop.

Good, then Bad, now Good Again!

I looooove this bike. It's fast. It's fun. It doesn't look like a giant chunky e-bike. I can keep up with my husband who is a much more serious cyclist.Unfortunately it got the dreaded pink flashing light after the third charge and would no longer turn on. Unlucky for me since I was out on a trail in the middle of a national park when it happened. After doing everything I could via researching online, I came to the conclusion that I would have to take it in.I got the runaround from my local REI (Lynnwood, WA), who shrugged their shoulders and suggested I call Cannondale. Cannondale confirmed the dealer (REI) had to do a firmware update to keep the battery from overcharging itself and bricking (pink flashing light). I checked with a different REI an hour away (Bellingham, WA) and had a couple of lengthy phone calls with their techs. They were kind enough to go down the rabbit hole. They spoke to REI corporate, spoke to the battery manufacturer, ordered the cable and firmware update dongle they needed, and got my bike fixed in a couple of weeks.I've got it back and it's working great. I recommend this bike, but I don't recommend taking delivery without getting the firmware update FIRST. Keep calling until someone is willing to help you out.

Great Ride- plenty of gears, smooth braking
9 February 2023

I rode lots of bikes in this price range before choosing the Topstone 2 Women’s bike. Most of the bikes I rode at the $2k price level had similar components to this bike with this bike priced at $1725 and I cannot tell any difference. Love the Shimano GRX 400 components— plenty of gears for the big downhills and uphills on the road. And those hydraulic disk brakes—wow! They are so smooth! I ride mostly on the road and local greenways and this bike is well suited for that. Don’t do much off-roading. I ride about 10 miles after work every day and 15-20 on Saturdays and Sundays. and look forward to it with this bike!

Great for Enhancing , not replacing - your power

Bought a L (6ft2) and its a great fit. I am on the way to achieving over 100km easily on a single charge using mostly level 1, and very seldom level 2/3 on steeper gradients. An average cyclist will easily keep the momentum just over 25kph on the flat sections, which means using less battery and getting far more than the advertised 75km range. It doesn't feel like 13.5kg of bike and rolls really well (almost as good as my Ridley Kanzo Fast Gravel). The motor is there to assist , and I find it especially useful on the stop/starts of gravel and bridleway riding. Sweet spot seems to be 18-23kph. Motor shuts down over 25kph and there is minimal drag when not engaged. Aim to keep your ride average just over 25kph and this will give you more of a workout than any standard gravel bike..in case you are worried what your mates will say about going for an e-bike. Great build quality and lots of mount points for luggage etc. Only change I made was better, more padded bar tape and Panaracer Gravelking SK+Tubeless setup (38")

Love this bike (Topstone 2)
16 July 2022

Opted for a gravel bike to replace my old single speed, for commuting and generally having fun (aside from my normal road riding). Opted for the Topstone as I already have a CAAD10 and CAAD13 and just generally like and trust the bikes. The Topstone also seems to offer excellent value-for-money on components. I up spec’d the wheels for the Vel 50mm’s which are superb.Love the bike. So much fun and feels very quick. Used it for the commute (flat, road, 14miles each way) and also doing laps off-road around Richmond Park. Excellent on both surfaces, so comfortable and a great riding position. Absolutely no negative feedback. Would highly recommend.

Much love for my Topstone 3!
11 December 2022

Opted for the Topstone 3 (S) given the decent price and my nostalgic affinity for Cannondales that dates back to the mid 1990. Plus, I wanted a bike that is better on the roads than my mtb.Bought the Topstone online through REI. Went with a Small given my below average height and inseam. Got dialed in pretty quickly and find the bike comfortable and compliant. From my non-expert perspective, the fit is as advertised, but ymmv.So far, it has handled the lighter trails as I expected and it's decently fast on paved roads. Same time, I'm currently putting together a second wheelset with proper road tires because my Topstone has become my primary bike for exercise and group road rides, and because I don't want to buy a third bike. Not to mention, I simply want to try out some decent carbon rims to go with the carbon fork.Feeling so-so about the Fizik Aliante Delta saddle, especially when the miles hit north of 15 on a ride. Haven't had any chaffing but my discomfort starts to increase a bit more than I'm accustomed to. I will probably try out a few different saddles in the near future but I'll give it some more time/miles first. The Shimano Sora gearing/FSA Tempo Adventure cranks have been smooth and problem free, and didn't get messed up even when I changed gears on an uphill under pressure. The Promax mechanical brakes are decent enough. They haven't failed and I haven't felt nervous about them at any point However their stopping power is noticeably inferior compared to the Shimano hydraulic brakes on my mtb. Then again, I don't plan on using my Topstone for chunkier, steeper downhill trails near me, at least not regularly, where such a difference would be magnified.Overall, it's a pretty bike to my eyes. I've long opted for more muted colors on my bikes. However the grey paint job seems much darker than depicted in the above picture. I was liking hard on that lighter gray and feel a little disappointed by the difference between what my eyes see in the picture and what I see now. It is what it is. Already over it. Bottom line is that for me, the Topstone is a capable bike on and off road. I'm stoked about it and any upgrades I might make beyond perhaps the saddle, are more about improvements specific to my needs, not about any true deficiencies or limitations of the bike.

The Cannondale Topstone Neo SL1 - a Revelation!

It looked great! I'm 6 foot 3" and although the height was fine I felt it a little short. A 130mm stem was substituted for the supplied 100mm one and all was then well.I'm very pleased with the response of the Mahle X35 rear-hub motor. (Pleased too, as a motorcyclist that Mahle are a revered performance piston manufacturer!).I find it is possible to have a good work-out effort with this machine in the knowledge that the top-setting will always haul you over the steepest of hills - should you choose to select that.So - the essence of the Topstone Neo SL1 is you can choose the effort level you feel capable of on the day - and on the hill!Overall build-quality is excellent it's not over-heavy and it being a "gravel" bike has already led to enjoyable excursions on paths and tracks I would never have previously considered tackling.New dimensions of cycling for me - the enjoyment has returned!A GREAT eBike from Cannondale - my thanks to them - and to Sigma for their continuing great service.....

I acquired this bike as a winter trainer and it has more than fulfilled my expectations. Delivery was very quick and well organised - I cannot remember buying a bike with less hassle. The bike itself is beautifully balanced and the geometry is well conceived. For a gravel bike it performs well on the road. The most notable feature is the splayed handlebars - the improvement in stability is remarkable. I have a prejudice agianst disc brakes but these are sensitive and responsive. Gear ratios are well chosen and the GRX400 is suitably robust for rural Wales. My only disappointment is the tyres. Brilliant grip but very soft and the deep tread picks up thorns. I have had 4 punctures in the first two weeks! Tubeless tyres may be a better option. But overall, I am delighted.
