I bought this recently and although I have not had a chance to use it yet, I know I will be happy with it because I bought one of these a few years ago that was the same Toshiba brand-but not exactly the same product because this one has a bigger storage capacity- and it has worked perfectly. I like this brand because most of them don't require any software downloads to use it. You just simply plug it in to the computer and easily drag and drop files back and forth. It is very user friendly, and the Toshiba brand is one of the most reliable brands when it comes to external hard drive storage devices. Shipping was fast and convenient as always. Bought the 1TB Toshiba drive last years black friday sale been using ever since. Runs perfectly. I've had Seagate and Western Digital external hard drives. They both turned out to be garbage. I dropped the Western Digital 1 foot off the desk onto a carpeted floor and it is ruined. 1 TB of files gone. It was a backup so I have the originals that I put on the Toshiba. I'm buying a 2 TB drive this year - Toshiba of course.

I bought this a few months ago and found that if you are using it as a backup solution, as in copy local files off main PC, then it does the job. If you are constantly accessing files or updating spreadsheets etc, the drive goes into what I would assume is a powersave mode. You hear it having to spin up again. When you then try and resave your spreadsheet it doesn't recognise the location of the original work and you have to save it locally and copy it back to the HD which is a bit of a pain. I will say yes to recommending it for backups or pure storage but No to actively working on live files.I hope this helps.
