Our house is approx 20m from end to end and solid walled throughout. As the phone line enters at one end I'd previously used a system of a router at one end of the house, powerline adapters, a wifi access point at the other end of the house and a wifi repeater or two. This 3 pack has replaced all that, giving much faster speeds and removing the need to swap wifi networks when moving around the house. I'd read up about the benefits of a dedicated backhaul channel and this system is easily up to WFH, online gaming and streaming at the same time. Setup out of the box just worked and after 5 mins it figured out the location of the units and how to chain them togwther for best signal coverage. The devices themselves are pretty impressive and have both great range and high throughout (even through multiple walls and floors). Unfortunately the system is plagued by incredibly frequent drops in connectivity, both between Deco units and between AP and client. The issue seems to have gotten even worse with the latest firmware update - at this point i can't go 5 minutes without losing connection when streaming from any device in the house, even a tv located a handful of feet from the base unit. I've been recording telemetry from my modem and none of the drops are related to service disruptions at my ISP and are strictly related to issues with the Deco system. Even the Deco app shows zero problems with interference or band congestion after using the network ... I bought this unit only to be disappointed with its performance despite online paid reviewers giving it glowing remarks.I only have 48 devices connected to it and yet I have devices dropping connection when only 10ft away with no walls in-between and clear line of sight.I have to reboot the router each time before it works again.The software features are bare bones. Worse than the older cheaper models on routers and even less than the free one from Telus. You can't even block IP addresses from internet or assign static IP. You can only do ip reservation.There is no mesh speed test.Next time I'm going with a dream machine instead.

So I have the same issue as many others, the system is great when it likes your device. However, there are devices that it just will not keep a connection with. I know this because I own many streaming TVs. They all work except two, and interestingly, they are the exact same model tv. Checked all settings, firmware, performed reboots, etc. Confirmed not my internet service. I believe the issue is somewhere in the router software deciding what devices to service. I've tried turning off the fast roaming and mesh features as well, as suggedted by TP Link, still no luck. My old routers had zero issues. I really wanted these to be great, but not so much. I suggest a hard pass until TP Link is able to fix this issue.
So far im extremely unimpressed. Im not sure what the issue is but the ip gets dropped about every 20 mins consistently. This causes a ton of problems with the devices in my house. Its strange though because its not every device. Im guessing its an issue on the back haul. Randomly our phones (which seem to be the main devices affected) just lose connection to the internet while maintaining wifi. Its not a signal strength issue. This product is massively overkill for my house. Since im unable to manually choose a channel i cant troubleshoot this very well.

Not as annoying, the power cord is really short!4. The parental controls are VERY limited unless you cough up money for their full version. "Home Shield Pro" is $55,00 a year. After struggling with a mesh WiFi system from a different manufacturer for a week, I purchased these TP-Link units plus one additional satellite. Such an enormous improvement. Setup was simple; everything worked. No troubleshooting required. The signal strength is approximately 2/3 of the full bandwidth everywhere in my 3-bedroom house using just the main unit and one satellite. I installed an additional satellite in a separate building (all steel construction). The signal propagates to that building and penetrates the steel walls with just enough usable bandwidth to stream video. Highly recommend .

I have the M5 Deco mesh system currently where all of these features are included.Beyond that the coverage was better than my M5s but the performance was worse. I was connected to 5G on the M5 units getting 540 Mbps down but only achieving 400 Mbps down on the AXE5400s.Additionally I was not able to see or connect to the 6GHz band with my Wi-Fi6e laptop. I tried changing the setting to backhaul + fronthaul but it didn't make a difference.In conclusion, I likely would have kept them had they not decided to try and eek out extra dollars a month to unlock normal functionality.
