This mesh system has been fantastic. Our home is @ 200ft long, with a finished walk out basement. So, 2 levels of living space. Large covered patio and an above ground pool off the patio. I recommend hard wiring all additional nodes, to enable the high speed backhaul and take that load of the wireless connections. Excellent product, especially compared to the price range of the higher end mesh systems.

The upstairs gets 300 mbs directly above the living room setup and 140 mbs in the bedrooms on the other side of the house. We have hardwood floors so its a lot to pass the signal through. If you wanted blazing speeds upstairs you probably need a 3rd unit, 2nd satellite. Highly recommended if youre looking for easy and relatively cheap!

As the phone line enters at one end I'd previously used a system of a router at one end of the house, powerline adapters, a wifi access point at the other end of the house and a wifi repeater or two. This 3 pack has replaced all that, giving much faster speeds and removing the need to swap wifi networks when moving around the house. I'd read up about the benefits of a dedicated backhaul channel and this system is easily up to WFH, online gaming and streaming at the same time. Setup out of the box just worked and after 5 mins it figured out the location of the units and how to chain them togwther for best signal coverage. Fast, ONLY when you have a stable connection

So I have the same issue as many others, the system is great when it likes your device. However, there are devices that it just will not keep a connection with. I know this because I own many streaming TVs. They all work except two, and interestingly, they are the exact same model tv. Checked all settings, firmware, performed reboots, etc. Confirmed not my internet service. I believe the issue is somewhere in the router software deciding what devices to service. I've tried turning off the fast roaming and mesh features as well, as suggedted by TP Link, still no luck. My old routers had zero issues. I really wanted these to be great, but not so much. I suggest a hard pass until TP Link is able to fix this issue.

I love the speed of these. but are a few things that get me.1. You MUST use the mobile app in order to do ANYTHING when it comes to configuring it. Must even more frustrating than that is that the settings are really limited! I had more options on my wrt54g!2. There is no separate SSID's for 2.4, 5, 6GHz bands. so when it comes to your smart home stuff that ONLY uses 2.4 you have to go in the app and select 2.4 band only and then setup your smart home stuff, and then you can put it back to 2.4 or 5GHZ.3. Not as annoying, the power cord is really short!4. The parental controls are VERY limited unless you cough up money for their full version. "Home Shield Pro" is $55,00 a year. Outstanding performance

After struggling with a mesh WiFi system from a different manufacturer for a week, I purchased these TP-Link units plus one additional satellite. Such an enormous improvement. Setup was simple; everything worked. No troubleshooting required. The signal strength is approximately 2/3 of the full bandwidth everywhere in my 3-bedroom house using just the main unit and one satellite. I installed an additional satellite in a separate building (all steel construction). The signal propagates to that building and penetrates the steel walls with just enough usable bandwidth to stream video. Highly recommend .

Admittedly I've owned this product for about a week. I used to own an aging Linksys Velop that came with a fair bit of features. A lot of this all depends on where the nodes are placed. Behind TV's? Tucked in corners? Hidden from sight? Then you're likely gonna get drops. Take advantage of the 3, yes, 3 ethernet ports on the back of each node. If you're at a desk, have a node close enough you can run an ethernet line to it to enjoy the best possible connection. Does this product have a speed test? No. Is that the end of the world? No. You can easily connect your laptop to your modem (still protected) and run a speed test if you're concerned about your ISP's speed. Or b, just use an online speed test to give you a rough idea. 9/10 the speed your modem gets is not what you'll be getting over wifi anyways. Enjoy the simplicity, enjoy the speed, and watch netflix without interruption.

You can review settings and reboot the unit from the web interface but all the setup has to be done in the app. On the positive side the app is clean and intuitive. I was able to quickly change my internal LAN IP scheme and setup port forwarding rules to allow VPN access while I am away from home. I went from a Netgear Nighthawk mesh setup with two extenders and it was OK. This setup increased my wireless LAN throughput and WAN speed! I was very disappointed to see that TP-Link has begun putting some basic firewall and routing features behind a monthly subscription pay wall. I have the M5 Deco mesh system currently where all of these features are included.Beyond that the coverage was better than my M5s but the performance was worse. I was connected to 5G on the M5 units getting 540 Mbps down but only achieving 400 Mbps down on the AXE5400s.Additionally I was not able to see or connect to the 6GHz band with my Wi-Fi6e laptop. I tried changing the setting to backhaul + fronthaul but it didn't make a difference.In conclusion, I likely would have kept them had they not decided to try and eek out extra dollars a month to unlock normal functionality. These replace an Apple Airport Time Capsule ($600, replaced once by Apple) which Apple stopped making in 2016. I could not be happier so far. Using one as a router on the landing of my basement stairs and one on the windowsill in my problem room (a converted one-car garage with concrete walls under the new paneling), not only do I suddenly get coverage ALL OVER the house (a first), but it even reaches to an outdoor balcony, the covered porch in back, and a separate building in the yard where I have my pool table--where there was zero signal before. But for performance, I'm very happy.The screen shot shows my speeds out on my front porch, which I use as my office. The porch is behind some real plaster walls with METAL lathe, which usually acts like a perfect RF shield. That is the largest speed number I've ever seen out here by a far shot.BIG KUDOS and thanks to B&H Customer Service--the rep I talked to prior to buying these (I wish I could remember his name) really did a thorough job running down my options, and recommended these along with two other recommendations at different price points. He told me I was going to see big gains in performance, and was he ever right.
