Stylish, comfortable and tough skate shoes from Vans. A little bit tight on first wear, but this is mostly around the upper, which after a while breaks in to be a bit softer. The laces could do with being a bit longer! Fine around the toes, heel and midsole. Very supportive, and surprisingly do not rub under the ankle, like most mid height shoes do with me.

Went looking for a pair of Half Cabs for my son. The guy at the store could have sold us the more expensive non-pro model as they didn't have any pros in the right size, but organised for us to be shipped the pro pair my son was after in the right size that was also on sale. Arrived a couple of days later at my door and my son is stoked!

Very durable and the design is simple and attractive. Really affective skate shoe if that's what you are looking for. If you are looking for a shoe just for fashion then this is equally worth purchasing. Probably the best looking skate shoe Vans has.

Bought these a month a go and they not as i expected for the price. They are very sturdy which makes them a little stiff and heavy to skate in so it's hard to 'feel' the board - however the sole is good quality and hasn't worn too much. Also good for high impact jumping - HOWEVER - every time i put them on i hear a little rip where the seam joins at the back and it's starting to fail - on both sides. I go through a pair of laces each time i skate - like the lace holes are too far on the sides or something. On other shoes usually my laces last a couple of months. The over all look is bulky and because of the style of the half cab your pants will sit on top of the ankle hole which is not the style i like.
First pair ever of the half cabs and I am impressed. The tongue has side straps that keep it secure and provides a super form fitting shoe. It's like putting on a pair of gloves. My feet were meant for these shoes. The pop cush insole is great, too. Much better and cushier than the old vans used to be. They just feel like a really solid pair of shoes.
I have always loved vans. I’ve worn them for at least 20 years and tried many models. The Half-cab’s are a completely different creature. They were very difficult to get on due to the narrowness of the shoe and wide walls of the shoe. Also, these are pretty heavy compared to the pro-Cush. Overall I’ll wear them because they do look good after fitting them just right but I won’t be buying another pair of this model.
Left and Right shoes are not symmetrical/even. The upper is sewn crooked on the left one. The tags on the back are also crooked. Just sloppy quality these days.
I've skated Half Cabs exclusively for several years now. I rotate a chill pair that becomes my skate pair when they work in. Just after I went to them a few years back, they changed them up. Not as good as the ones they'd had for years and years (now stiffer), but still workable. These new ones are SO tight I could never wear them, and they don't stretch well because Vans wanted to save a few nickels so they replaced some suede with canvas. So sad. You ruined my forever shoe.Way to go Vans, you "fixed" something that wasn't broken, twice, and the second time made it literally impossible for me to continue wearing them. Way, WAY too narrow.
These are the most comfortable pair of shoes I've worn in a long time! They are stylish and feel so smooth! Combine them with the checkerboard laces and you've got a prize! The black on white is very well layered. They skate very good too! They are Half Cabs of course and they live up to the name! Do yourself a favor and get the Vans Water and Stain Shield to protect them and keep them looking fresh longer. You won't regret it. You're reading this review so you are definitely interested. DO IT! Get a pair! You will love them! 10/10
Hi, I am 47 years old and still surf and skate, I am pretty broke and live in the highlands of Scotland and really needed a new set of sneakers to kick about. I have followed Steve Cab since I was about 14 years old and figured why not a set of half cabs. The back of the shoe has ripped on my achilleas tendon and my achilleas is sore. Figure the pain was from a surf board fin chop I suffered in Margarete River years ago. Then a skater friend of mine popped over and sad 'yea man half cab always tear on the heel there and I bet your achilleas is sore'. If your owner was still alive I would email him directly, so disappointed its not true. Can't even be bothered sending them back.....
