I love the way these shoes look, and didn't find any problems with the tongue (as other reviewers have mentioned) after the first 1-2 wears. I've had my shoes for about a year now of average wear, and I will say that they are completely worn through. The bottom sole is almost completely down to nothing, and the shoes look insanely crumpled and worn. They are way way more destroyed looking than any other pair of sneakers I've had with the same amount of usage. I know that they're white, but I have periodically cleaned and conditioned them. That also doesn't account for the fact that the sole is basically threadbare at this point. They honestly look like a pair of shoes someone has had in a closet for decades. When I ordered the white/black combo, there were 2 left in the company. Now they are sold out, so I’m happy I chose the right size. They run big! I am normally a US 7, and after reading the reviews, I ordered the womens 6, which is a men’s 4. They fit perfectly, and I have enough room with a little sock on. They are really stiff when you get them, but break in quickly. The tongue was digging in the front of my leg! I love the fit and style of this very well made sneaker. I have problem feet and these fit comfortably from the moment I put them on and no break in necessary. I have repeatedly worn them all day with no discomfort at all. I considered putting an insert in just in case, but there has been no need. They are also easy to clean- red wine was accidentally spilled on them and they cleaned up with a damp clothe- I was shocked!

These shoes were super cute. I could forgive the stiffness during the break-in period, which thankfully was relatively short (couple days). I could forgive my heel slipping out, which thankfully stopped after they were broken in. I could forgive the laces being extremely difficult to pull through each eyelet. If there were odor issues, which there weren't, I would have found a way to forgive and deal with that. But what I cannot forgive is that the soles started separating after wearing about 6 times. I have never experienced anything like this--I weigh 100 lbs. sopping wet, and am not hard on my shoes.
I’m typically an 9 in sneakers to accommodate socks and having comfortable toe room, ie toes not hitting the front interior of sho . I ordered the 40 which translates to 9, and I’d say this is a 1/2 size smaller than a traditional 9. I had average socks on. Fearing discomfort after a solid wear, I’m going to return and hope the 41 isn’t suddenly gigantic, as well as a 40 in the V-12s to see if the style plays a factor. *fingers crossed*
Esthetically, the shoes are great...comfort, not as much. I find the leather to be hard..and the shoes sound heavy when you walk. They sound like dress shoes. I am in between a 6.5 and 7, usually a 7 in sneakers and so I ordered a 37. My heel comes up when I walk. I would say these run a little large, however since they don't come in 1/2 sizes, I think a 6 would have been too small. I will wear these only on occasion, when I know I won't be doing too much walking. I find my Cole Haan sneakers to be much more lighter and more comfy for all day walking. I would not purchase another pair of the Vejas.
I’m a true size 6. I got the size 37 and they were too big. I previously got these in a different color in 36 and they were too small. I need a half size for Veja which they don’t offer. Also, these were heavier than any sneaker I’ve ever worn. I got these in the “extra white” and black. These were not white at all. More cream/yellowish. Ended up returning because the sizing and color were both so off.
These are my favorite sneakers. I am now going on my 3rd pair since 2016. They have each lasted four years, I have changed the laces and use them until they are worn out. I wear these every day, for work, for travel, with jeans, dresses, loungewear.I love Veja because they are a conscious company, sustainably source their rubber in Brazil and don’t do any advertising. These shoes are fair trade too.
First, the lack of half-sizes really stinks. Unlike other reviews, I do find them true to size. I’m an 8.5, and the 8 was too small while the 9 was too big. I ordered the Esplar and the Campo and found the sizing is the same in both styles. Esplar is more narrow, Campo is wider (slightly too wide for me). Esplar is smooth leather while Campo is textured. I liked the width of Esplar better but the texture of Campo. Beyond the sizing, the shoes just aren’t cut well. The tongue on Campo is way too long, and it leaves a red mark after only a few minutes of wear. By contrast, the tongue on Esplar is shorter like a normal shoe, but the ankle area is too narrowly cut. The raises to quickly and rubs the front bottom edge of the outside ankle.
