Verbatim, is the best you can buy. If you are getting errors, reading the DVD, there are 2 main reasons, this can happen. 1. make sure that your read/write lens is clean. We are talking about a laser here, and it is very precise. Any dust on the lens, and you will be making coasters. I experienced this, first hand. Once cleaned, it worked perfectly, after that! 2. Make sure your burner is meant for DL DVD's, some are not. Don't throw the baby, out of the bath water! Clean your lens, and make sure that you have a burner, that burns Dual Layer DVD's!

These dual layer dvds work just as advertised. They will hold close to double what a standard dvd will hold - 8.5 gigabytes vs 4.7 gigabytes. I’m now able to get my daughter’s entire 3 hour dance recital onto one dvd in HD. I previously had to use 2 dvds and record in standard definition. The playback quality is excellent.Before you purchase this product make sure that your optical drive (cd/dvd/Blu-ray read/write device) can write to a DUAL LAYER DVD. It must be “DVD+R DL’’ capable.

False advertising. It says it will hold 8.5GB of video, but it won't. I bought these 8.5GB discs because I need to transfer an 8.1GB video file off of my computer and save it to a disc. This 8.5GB disc only has 7.95GB of free space after formatting (7.67 before formatting) so there is not even enough space for an 8GB file, let alone an 8.5GB file.

Verbatim DVDs are the best on the marketThe title states "2.4x Branded Spindle" which are the Made in Singapore discs, but when I picked them up, they were the 8x branded (Made in UAE). Some people have had trouble with the Made in UAE discs, but luckily I've been able to burn 12 so far without a single coaster (iHas124 burner). I'll continue to buy them.I bought these when they were $21, so ~$1 per disc is a great value.
I will never buy these again. And not because it is a bad product. Sure, they work 100% of the time. But, I have found a suitable alternative that works 100% of the time as well with both XGD2 and XGD3 games and also happens to be half the price. If the quality is there and the price is cheaper, I'm going to buy those. It is what you may call a "no-brainer". If you have an ihas burner and make Xbox 360 backups, give the Optical Quantums a try with the settings I mentioned above. You will be pleasantly surprised. Verbatim might just lose a ton of business because of them. They lost me as a customer because of their ridiculous price gouging. I'll take my 56 dollars plus 4 for shipping and buy 100 Optical Quantums, thank you very much!
Verbatim always seems to be the best when it comes to blank disc media. I have used these for years when creating xbox 360 backup discs and these are the only ones that support proper burns of XGD3 games. Failed burns are incredibly rare as well when using these verbatims.
Very good product, many say it is the best. You need to remember that this is for older burners and the 2.4x is what is significant. It tell you that this Verbatim product was manufactured using a different process than the 8x product. It is not about speed it's about the manufacturing process. After using 5 of the DVD's I haven't had any write failure errors. I had switched from the Memorex because of excessive failures. I don't expect them to be perfect but these DVD's are too expensive to tolerate an almost 50% failure rate I was getting with the Memorex DVD's. I also hate the wasted time and frustration. Verbatim must have a superior quality control program. These DVD's are worth the price. I hope that Verbatim doesn't reduce their quality standards like most manufacturers just to make a buck.
My biggest concern is all of the major stores, including New Egg, will not take them back (refund) once you open the pack and find a good number of the discs fail in burning. I.e., you are on your own. How else can you find out you got a spindle full of defective discs without opening the pack and finding a good number of the discs fail in burning? It seems the customer is out of luck with no recourse, other then to just suck it up if you get a $50 spindle of defective discs. What is the current situation? Has Verbatim cleaned up their act, or are they still putting out defective discs? I rated two eggs based on complaints I see from other customers which I think is fair. Personally, I am afraid to order any more until I see better reviews.
This is the first time I used double layer discs. Verbatim discs perform well. The large capacity of these discs above the single sided ones is super! I will certainly order these again.
