The product was all right. Only one disk was found to be unusable which caused us to have to restart an entire system save over from disk #5. These things are so-o-o-o slow--45 minutes per disk. If you have a choice, use an external hard drive or USB drive to do large backups. My external hard drive took only 7 minutes to complete the same task. Well worth the extra money.

I will never buy these again. And not because it is a bad product. Sure, they work 100% of the time. But, I have found a suitable alternative that works 100% of the time as well with both XGD2 and XGD3 games and also happens to be half the price. If the quality is there and the price is cheaper, I'm going to buy those. It is what you may call a "no-brainer". If you have an ihas burner and make Xbox 360 backups, give the Optical Quantums a try with the settings I mentioned above. You will be pleasantly surprised. Verbatim might just lose a ton of business because of them. They lost me as a customer because of their ridiculous price gouging. I'll take my 56 dollars plus 4 for shipping and buy 100 Optical Quantums, thank you very much!

If you're burning any dual layer DVD+R DL discs, Verbatim AZO is the only brand you want to buy! I've tried several other brands and got more coasters than good burns. With Verbatim the burn rate has been almost 100%! Actually the same holds for single layer DVD-R discs, Verbatim AZO is the only way to go! By all means stay away from Memorex brand anything!

This item is exactly as described. I do semi-annual backups of my hard disk, to DVD.The folders have been getting bigger and bigger over the years, so the 8.5gb capacity really helps. I also needed to make a boot disk for the latest 1903 version of Windows 10. All worked well using my desktop DVD writer (7 yearsold). Didn't have to do anything special to use a disk to it's fullest capacity.
I used to use Memorex DVD+R DL to record my projects, but I started having higher than normal failure rates. I investigated on the net and learned that Verbatim was the best, although there was a note that Verbatim Life series was not very good. So I paid the premium price for the premium Verbatim and I can honestly say that I couldn't be more pleased. Every project creation is now stored without error. I was even able to go back and use my favorite DVD writing program again. I had to stop using it with the Memorex media because of the intolerably high number of writing failures and discarded DVDs. I'll only use Verbatim from now on.
I kept running into failures when trying to write to blank double-layer DVD discs. So I sought advice from two online forums. They suggested that my failures were due simply to the brand of blank DL disc I was using (Memorex). Both advised me to use Verbatim brand DVD+R DL discs instead. That solved my problems immediately. Apparently Verbatim makes their own discs, to their own specs, rather than contract their manufacture to the lowest bidder. From now on Verbatim is the only brand of optical disc I will buy. Very, very pleased.
My biggest concern is all of the major stores, including New Egg, will not take them back (refund) once you open the pack and find a good number of the discs fail in burning. I.e., you are on your own. How else can you find out you got a spindle full of defective discs without opening the pack and finding a good number of the discs fail in burning? It seems the customer is out of luck with no recourse, other then to just suck it up if you get a $50 spindle of defective discs. What is the current situation? Has Verbatim cleaned up their act, or are they still putting out defective discs? I rated two eggs based on complaints I see from other customers which I think is fair. Personally, I am afraid to order any more until I see better reviews.
I have purchased before because I needed reliability vs paying a cheaper price somewhere else ( not that much cheaper) and getting disk after disk that is bad. At B & H I havent had any issues and the price you pay at B & H is comparable to Walmart, Best Buy, etc.
I recently switched from using single layer DVD's to archiving my photos using dual layer DVD's. I tried an off brand but experienced too many disc failures. When I switched to Verbatim Azo DL DVD's, the failure rate went to zero. I will stick with this product.
