Western Digital has a great product. Walmart did not have the 1TB SSD drive which I would have preferred...only had a 1TB in M.2 size, so I bought the 2TB SSD instead. Tried to pick the drive up early but could not, though this was clearly stated in the message from Walmart. We had an emergency and needed the drive fast so it would have been nice to get it early if possible. But overall, I am very happy. When my husband went to pick up the drive that I purchased online, the Walmart associate brought it out fast, and my husband was on his way! Thank you!

Have always trusted Western Digital for my hard drives and now SSDs. I'm using mine for extra external storage and fit nicely in an external case I had laying around. Windows recognized right away and quickly formatted. Left with about 232GB of usable storage after the format. This will be plenty for my needs. Write and read speeds are pretty fast. I have this connected via USB 3.0 and it doesn't miss a beat. Of course it is basically silent and the temperature remains cool even inside the external case. Looking to get many years of use and with WD, I have no doubt that I will do just that.

I upgraded my wife's PC with the Blue SA510 250GB SATA SSD, and the results were spectacular! Before, it took six minutes to start; Now, it's ready in just six seconds. The change has been like day and night. Installation was simple, and overall system performance improved noticeably: programs open instantly and multitasking is seamless. We mainly use it for daily tasks and the performance has been impeccable. I would have liked to know that some cloning programs can be complicated; I recommend Macrium for this. In short, it's a cheap and powerful upgrade for any PC.

I contacted support about this, after being shuffled around, their solution was to ask to take remote control of my computer and apply the fix themselves. We have a strict policy never to allow anyone (even vendors we contact) to take remote control of any system in out network, so that approach wasn't going to fly. Since I wouldn't allow this, their advice was to "go buy some other cloning software, and it should work with any of them." Instead, I did more research and found an obscure post that suggested connecting any WD drive to the system, so that the Acronis/WD installer would see a WD drive. I happened to have a external WD HDD, so I attached this to the system, and then the cloning software installed perfectly. Simple workaround, but it requires that you have another WD drive on hand to appease the Acronis/WD installer. (At the very least, the support folks should have known about this workaround, and offered it as an alternative to either relinquishing control of the system to them or going out and buying some cloning software.) Of course, the correct solution would be to correct the Acronis/WD installer so that it recognizes the SSD properly, even when connected via USB. I have purchased and installed several Crucial MX500 SSDs, and have never had any issues like this. This is the first WD SSD I have purchased and installed, and based on this experience, it will probably be the last.

FAILS AFTER 3 WEEKS!!!

I got this for Christmas and installed it on 12/27/2023. I installed my windows 10 on it everything worked fine for 3 weeks then the drive suddenly failed! Not even 30 days!!! I tried to go back to best buy where i got it but they only guarantee items for 2 weeks! I lost my operating system along with a few hundred dollars in programs! The loss that can't be repaired is the almost month worth of work that is now lost because of this matter. I had to put back in my old 120GB WD green SSD just so my computer could work again. I hope WD can fix or replace this item without this matter escalating any further.

Fake/Counterfeit SSD's

I have purchased these SSD's and was extremely happy with them. I also bought them subsequent to this particular purchase and would not hesitate to do so again. They are a great product. I am giving a low mark on this particular purchase because they were counterfeit/fake to which the online vendor never disputed but offered a 40% refund. Thankfully Walmart stands behind their customer and provided a 100% refund. The online vendor was Huizhou Zixun Trading Co Ltd - 10001095211 - MP.Stay away.

Good value for money

Package well done and delivery time correct. Product matches the description.Nevertheless, there were no screws in the package to attach the drive on the bay and no installation notice.When the drive was plugged it was seen by the bios and device manager on W10 but not visible from Windows Explorer.After some research, found out that one needs to use Disk Management tool to create a partition and format the drive. I think this info could come with the drive. Apart of that, the drive performs very well as specified.

If you care at all about performance, 6x speed for 1.5x cost should be a no-brainer. If you need the SATA i/o, 2.5" form factor, or extremely high capacity in a single drive, this is a fine choice, and it is a good value compared to other SATA SSD's. But looking at the storage market broadly and factoring speed against cost against capacity, this product is not a very good value. In my case my two NVMe slots are used and I needed big bulk storage for project files, so this does the job nicely. Two cons to know about this product: first, this 3D NAND storage does have a finite write/overwrite endurance. In most applications you will never run into it, but if your intention is to use this for something where it is getting written and overwritten constantly, e.g. a scratch disk for media creation applications, this might limit the lifespan of this product– though for all but the most extreme applications, it is probably still within tolerances for reasonable drive life. The other con is that WD hides a binding arbitration clause in the fine print of their manual. Unless you notice it and waste time and a stamp to opt out, you are deprived consumer protection that are considered normal in America (i.e. getting in on a class action suit were the product to prove defective). Lots of companies do this now, but it is a shady move suggesting low confidence in the product and low commitment to consumer satisfaction long-term. Par for the course today, I guess. TL;DR: Good showing as SATA SSD's go, but skip these entirely and go to NVMe if you can, at current prices they are a much more attractive option. WB Blue SATA SSD is of very Poor Quality
