Have always trusted Western Digital for my hard drives and now SSDs. I'm using mine for extra external storage and fit nicely in an external case I had laying around. Windows recognized right away and quickly formatted. Left with about 232GB of usable storage after the format. This will be plenty for my needs. Write and read speeds are pretty fast. I have this connected via USB 3.0 and it doesn't miss a beat. Of course it is basically silent and the temperature remains cool even inside the external case. Looking to get many years of use and with WD, I have no doubt that I will do just that.

I upgraded my wife's PC with the Blue SA510 250GB SATA SSD, and the results were spectacular! Before, it took six minutes to start; Now, it's ready in just six seconds. The change has been like day and night. Installation was simple, and overall system performance improved noticeably: programs open instantly and multitasking is seamless. We mainly use it for daily tasks and the performance has been impeccable. I would have liked to know that some cloning programs can be complicated; I recommend Macrium for this. In short, it's a cheap and powerful upgrade for any PC.

I bought 2 of these to set up a mirrored pair for my precious data. BOTH died completely about 5 months later within about an hour of each other. Mirroring doesn't help if both disks die!I couldn't believe that the two disks would fail at the same time, so I did a lot of mobo/power/etc testing, but yes it was the disks.Fortunately I also had a good offline backup (paranoia pays off :)) so after I got some Samsung replacements I got it all back, but it could have been a proper disaster. The disks have gone back now (thanks OC for the good service as usual!) but if WD replace them instead of refunding me I'm going to use them as scratch disks or something. There is no way I'm ever trusting my data to a WD drive ever again.Apparently there is a known firmware bug ... MoreI bought 2 of these to set up a mirrored pair for my precious data. I find that hardware-mirrored disks don't show up in the manufacturers' utilities anyway, so I wouldn't have picked it up even had I checked.

I got this for Christmas and installed it on 12/27/2023. I installed my windows 10 on it everything worked fine for 3 weeks then the drive suddenly failed! Not even 30 days!!! I tried to go back to best buy where i got it but they only guarantee items for 2 weeks! I lost my operating system along with a few hundred dollars in programs! The loss that can't be repaired is the almost month worth of work that is now lost because of this matter. I had to put back in my old 120GB WD green SSD just so my computer could work again. I hope WD can fix or replace this item without this matter escalating any further.
I have purchased these SSD's and was extremely happy with them. I also bought them subsequent to this particular purchase and would not hesitate to do so again. They are a great product. I am giving a low mark on this particular purchase because they were counterfeit/fake to which the online vendor never disputed but offered a 40% refund. Thankfully Walmart stands behind their customer and provided a 100% refund. The online vendor was Huizhou Zixun Trading Co Ltd - 10001095211 - MP.Stay away.
I am using this SSD drive as an image drive for my laptop. I put the new SSD drive into external enclosure. In the beginning I wasn't able to read the drive. Turn out my enclosure was defective. I replaced the enclosure with new one (USB-C interface) and now it read just fine. Then I start an imaging process from my current drive. It went pretty fast at transfer rate about 1gb per sec. I measured the read/write speed using AS SSD benchmark tool. It measure sequential read/write speed at 417mbps/332mbps, slightly lower than the advertised read speed number at 560mbps.The read speed may be affected by the external enclosure controller performance and USB port limitation. I think i’m pretty much content with the performance. This SSD also comes with 5 years warranty ... MoreI am using this SSD drive as an image drive for my laptop. Package well done and delivery time correct. Product matches the description.Nevertheless, there were no screws in the package to attach the drive on the bay and no installation notice. When the drive was plugged it was seen by the bios and device manager on W10 but not visible from Windows Explorer. After some research, found out that one needs to use Disk Management tool to create a partition and format the drive. I think this info could come with the drive. Apart of that, the drive performs very well as specified.
I stuck this one in my older laptop and it sped it up noticeably. It's an older dual core drive, but this makes a big difference in how fast it boots and it runs Windows 7 for now, but am going to roll it over to a Linux OS when I get time. I keep it as a backup computer in case my newer one bites the dust. I intend to keep it for use with a portable solar power system in case the grid should go down for any length of time. Older machines use less power and having the SSD drive keeps it from being too slow. The older small laptops will charge a LOT faster than newer machines on solar. Good for camping, too.
Recently, I had installed a new WD Blue 1 TB SATA SSD in my laptop. From the same day only, I was getting frequent system hang up and the Blue screen of death(BSOD) issues. Then instead of restarting normally, it loaded to a white screen which tells hard drive not installed. This type of error & issues continued even after the replacement by the reseller from where I had bought the SSD.Though the support people were friendly in their talks but no solution was given other than seeking another replacement. I wanted a refund as my trust on WB Blue SSD had been completely eroded. But WD declined saying that's not company's policy. So, I had to bear the loss for reselling the drive to the reseller. That's when I decided to switch to other company for better reliability ... MoreRecently, I had installed a new WD Blue 1 TB SATA SSD in my laptop. While this WD Blue SSD drive makes a PS4 Pro much faster and reduces loading times dramatically on many games, always turn the PS4 Pro off when not in use. If the SSD fails within that 5 year warranty period, Western Digital should replace it. Still, no one wants to wake up to a PS4 that fails to boot.
