Dungarees Have Changed

I have been wearing Wranglers for years, and I have noticed how they have changed, not always for the best. One thing that is particularly annoying is the plastic patch on the right back pocket. Plastic? Very chintzy and cheap looking. So I bought Wrangler Retros because they have the leather patch on the pocket and are the only slim boot cuts offered by Wrangler with a low rise.It would be nice if they could go back to traditional dungarees made of denim that would actually shrink to fit. I remember years ago we would put in new denims and walk in the water then just let them dry while we wore them and they literally shrunk to fit. That was a long time ago.

Fortunately, I know exactly which ones I'm buying.

I am buying these again.

Rather than patch them, I'm simply buying two more pairs, again in 100% cotton.

Inconsistent Fit
18 February 2023

I bought several pairs online and in store. None of them have a consistent fit. I do not understand why Wrangler has this issue. My advice is to buy them in store and try on multiple pairs of the same size until you find one that fits just right. The stretch is great, but they are truly not a slim jean. If they were a little slimer below the knee and kept the opening to 16in, they would be ideal. Also, one of the jeans I bought online had frays in the stitching and tiny tears in the material. Returning them is just a pain so I just kept them and use them for outside work.

Inconsistent Sizing & Poor Stitching
20 February 2023

The sizing in these jeans is very inconsistent. I bought several pairs online and each fit different. I later found in the reviews that this is a problem with these jeans. I found a store that sells them and I had to try on multiple pairs in the same size until I found one that fits right. I highly recommend you do the same. Also, lots of fraying in the stitching and tiny tears in the material. Rather than sending them back I just these for outdoor work. If these we made a little slimer below the knew and kept the leg opening to 16 inches, I think they would perfect.

Not the same quality as they once were.
14 September 2022

These used to be the only jeans I would wear until recently. I thought I was being rough on them as they would end up ripping after a month or two. Until I realized they are ripping in the same location every time. The back pockets start to rip at the corner. Some pairs seem to last longer than others, but all of the same style: retro slim boot in Layton color. The worst being I just took the tags off of a pair and washed and dried them. After not even being worn, just laundered, the back pocket is already pulling away. It's not even a rip or tear, the material is simply pulling apart.Typically ordered 2-4 pairs at a time. Wrangler Retros used to be a great Jean. Now it seems the quality isn't worth it.

This color not made well
29 April 2023

I've purchased 3 different pairs of the retro slim straight pairs. The diamond acres color is the only one where the feel of the Jean is different from the other colors. This color is stiffer and not as stretchy as the other jeans. Also, on the right leg, the outer seam is twisted to the point where it crosses over the right from leg when wearing. You can see the difference between the right leg and left leg, where the left leg's outer seam is straight and normal. Seems like a manufacturing error. Overall, this color is made poorly and lacks quality control. The other colors are much better, especially the Bozeman.

Wonderful jean except the quality isn't there.
3 November 2022

My son & I both prefer this jean because of the great fit & comfort but the quality isn't there. My son wears these to school & has been through 8 pair so far since school started in August. Our last purchase was October 20th and one pair has already started ripping!!He sits in seat & walks up/down hallways but every pair has ripped right beside the rivets that hold the rear pocket on. I can't say it is anything he is doing 'wrong' while wearing as I have had 4 pair do the same to me since summer. Every one rips right down beside the rear pocket so unless you have an industrial sewing machine, there isn't any way to repair on your own. Don't want to go to another brand but with this quality issue, I can't keep buying these!!

Yes, I would buy these jeans again... and again.
18 February 2023

I have bought these Wrangler Retro Slim Fit, Bootcut Jeans again and again. I bought my first two pairs in a western supply store in Riverton, Wyoming. At the time, I was the transportation coordinator for the world's largest outdoor education school, and I needed jeans that I could absolutely depend on while driving and working on large vehicles in Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, and Utah.I especially like their lower rise in the waist, which is much more comfortable for me than higher-waist jeans. Their slim-cut legs are also more comfortable because there is less airiness in cold weather, yet they allow room for an underlayer of thermal underwear. And their bootcut was mandatory to accommodate the hiking boots I wore daily. After twelve years, I finally had to ... MoreI have bought these Wrangler Retro Slim Fit, Bootcut Jeans again and again. Zero Quality Control
15 February 2022

Let me start off by saying that if you happen to land a pair of these in the right size they are comfortable, good looking jeans. Unfortunately that's where the frustration begins. The sizing is so wildly inconsistent I usually have to order at least three different waist sizes and two different lengths to try and find something that fits. I currently have 5 pairs of these jeans and not one is the same waist/length combination even if the orders were placed in quick succession. Of the jeans I received in my most recent order, the only pair that fit was somehow showing a rip at the top of the right back pocket which has been shared over and over and over in customer reviews here. The other constant issue these jeans continue to have is the stitching on the left leg almost always starts to wrap around the leg as you get closer to the foot and moves towards the center of the leg... How is nobody catching this from a quality control standpoint before these are shipped out the door? I would say it's more common to get a pair that is stitched wrong than a pair that's stitched correctly. Have standards slipped that much? With such a frustrating purchase experience due to the lacking quality control, there is just no way I could continue to purchase wrangler products. The overall fit really needs to be reviewed as well. These fit more like relaxed fit jeans than slim fit and they are definitely not a "low rise" jean either.
