I want to begin my mini review by saying: I don't like the original Black Opium EDP. I found it way too heavy for my skin, to the point where it was suffocating me.But for some reason THIS version is ridiculously delicious to my nose. It's definitely a much fresher version of the original, the DNA has changed.First spray you can definitely smell the absinthe, but it's not cloying, along with the fruits vanilla. Hours later the florals along with the licorice slowly emerge BUT the absinthe doesn't disappear. 10+ hours later a woody creamy vanilla is left on your skin. Now I know the notes are vastly different except for the vanilla BUT the dry down 8+ hours later smells EXACTLY like Dior's Poison Girl EDP, which I'm a fan of.Performance: The longevity on my skin is ... Nothing extraordinary. The sillage is just as strong as Dior's Poison Girl EDP. Acceptable.A fantastic crowd-pleasing scent from YSL in my opinion the moment I tried it on I knew I had to give it a chance. Purchased it immediately when I tested the performance thoroughly!

Recently bought this as a birthday gift for myself, I felt I deserved something nice, and I've always wanted to try YSL fragrances, so I bought two of their Black Opium scents, and I'm obsessed. I bought the biggest sizes that Sephora had in stock for each of the scents, and I'm so glad that I did. They're not cheap, but they are so very much worth their expensive price tag, if you have the money to spend, especially for this one. I spritzed a little on so I could let my mama smell it, and I took a shower not long after, and even exfoliated, and even the next day I can still smell it, I sadly can't say the same for the other, or for the MK wanderlust scent. The packaging is gorgeous and classy, while being minimalistic. The fragrance is warm, clean, and very ... I will absolutely be purchasing again, and would love to get a mini for my purse and another for my travel bag. I spent $126 for the 3oz (90ml) bottle, but you can get a 30ml bottle for $76, and a 50ml bottle for $100.

Black Opium Intense is very similar to the original except the absinthe note is prominent and lends to it a sort of metallic nuance, at least on my skin and to my nose. The coffee is far more evident in this Intense version, too. I prefer this version over all of the others. It just works better on my skin and to my nose. Performance is average. Longevity is 4-5 hrs. Sillage is arms length. Perfect for cold weather. I prefer to wear this at night but it works on cold days too. Follow me on IG @AshleyScentMe

is my favorite variation of . It has notes of absinthe and boysenberry and although I am kind of sick of the original, this is different enough that I have been wearing it daily as my new signature scent. Great for fall and very sexy but not too strong. I would recommend it to Black Opium fans and even those who don't like the original. In my opinion it is different enough to justify purchasing it even if you already own Black Opium original.
Anything warm, sweet, and spicy is my jam when it comes to fragrance. The Intense variation of Black Opium has a depth the regular version doesn’t, and a bit more spice in my opinion. The coffee note is unique and adds an almost nutty warmth. I find it works across all seasons and it’s become my most used fragrance. I get compliments anytime I’m wearing it. It has fantastic staying power on skin and clothing. I appreciate only having to use a spray or two to have all day scent payoff.
I have to say I used to dislike Black Opium the original one until I actually bought a fresh batch-lol. Well I grew to love it. Now I just got the travel size to try of the Intense perfume. At first sniff I thought oh no it’s too flowery. But it quickly evolves into the coffee notes with a touch of orange blossom floral. It’s intense and rich but definitely not as sweet as the original. They are similar yet different. Both beautiful. Both striking. For reference I enjoy Bacarrat Rouge 540, Glossier YOU, DG The Only One, Fenty Perfume, and Ariana Cloud.
Intense my butt! Let me be brutally honest. All the Black Opiums are SO overrated! The Girls on YouTube are Lying! None of these last more than 2 hours, they are overpriced and the smell is pretty basic. It smells like a sweet watered down coffee shop. There is nothing intense about this. I always have to add more fragrance notes to it. I am sure there are better fragrances out there that smell better, perform better and are more worth the money.
Bought it just recently. And own also Black Opium EDP. If you like the Black Opium , you will like this newest flanker Intense. If you do not like much BO, give this one a sniff...you may like it (that is if you like vanilla oriental scents). Fave from the two...hm...they are different. Both same dna from vanilla accords- vanilla oriental. Black (with pinkish juice) Opium sweeter, cosier , coffee creamed almondy, night blooming sweet jasmine lurking....for sensual yet elegant and strong woman. Intense EDP sharper, vanilla accord stronger, blue juice (in colour) have that more "blue" scent...sharper in a sense of zingy sweet spices of absinthe, licorice and sweet mint...some blue juicy berry here and there (comes and goes, like that smell of boysenberry lolly)....no ... Perhaps sharp zingy sweet spices tone down the creamed coffee scent. And vanilla overpowers it too. This one I see strong, confident, playful, sexy and elegant woman wearing. With a touch of edge. I am more Blue juice BOI girl, but love both. BOI (Intense means not longer lasting). They both are not super long lasting, just a day. I expect this from regular mainstream perfumes. For example tried Tom Ford Lost Cherry....my room had projection from my shirt sleeve for a week (then I washed shirt hanging on the door) Opiums do have projection! Can feel them in the room as well, but not as for long or too strong. BOI stays on skin for hours on end (well moisturized skin makes perfume last longer for sure!!). All day on me. I shower apply moisturizer and scent on while skin is damp from the cream/butter. Beautiful bottle: dark space with stars speckled and in the middle , black hole....then you spritz the "juice" and get sucked in....
Bought this after I tried a sample that they offered on their website. Thought it was one of the better smelling scents I've tried out of all the samples I've had and since I saw that it was on sale, I felt inclined to take the opportunity! I've been wanting to get into wearing fragrances for a while since I never really wore anything nice that last, and this fragrance is definitely one I'm happy to have for a first. I don't really have much to say in detail about the scent itself, all I can say is I definitely suggest it and think it smells wonderful.
That’s what happened when I used it for the first time. I had been hearing good reviews and also people had recommended this often. A self proclaimed CognoSenti, this was in my list for a while and finally picked it during a self love day! A must buy for women who need a scent to last long. Recommended to be used at morning or evening scenes.
