It came next day and all I had to do was sit it next to my iPhone SE 2 and push the button. Everything transferred before switching the SIM card over.I bought it to replace the SE as it has a slightly bigger screen which is useful for use as a Sat Nav.You are not buying a phone, it is a camera, computer, language tutor, radio, tv, bank manager, compass, health monitor, exercise monitor, the list goes on.Face recognition after Touch ID is really welcome. Open the app and its had a look at you to verify you can get to work, no waiting to touch the button with dirty fingers in the garage.I was concerned about getting the bigger screen but not a problem for me.Two years guarantee, thank you JL and Apple.

My last few iPhones have lasted me a long time, I bought a 13 after almost 4 years with my XR (iPhone 10). With a good amount of time between purchases I normally see a big difference/improvement in many areas upon getting a new iphone. Not this time. Camera is supposed to be much higher quality - I can't get it to focus without having to manually switch a setting and even then the XR photos would focus better and show more detail in the photo. It sounds much worse than the XR did - on a call the sound quality is noticeably poorer than my XR. The style of the phone is reminiscent of an iPhone 4, boxy and small, fit is not as comfortable in my hand width wise as the XR (normal size XR) was. I'm seeing no noticeable difference in operating speed and battery life which are supposed to be improved, does not appear to be any different for me over the XR. In all I wish I had taken my XR to a repair shop to confirm it was not able to be fixed instead of shelling out almost $900 for a new iPhone that in my opinion is a down grade from the XR three models prior! Note that NOT included in the box is the plug required to charge this phone, and no headphones. The lightening cord from a newer previous iPhone will work if your going from iPhone to iPhone but if you are new to an apple phone I guess Apple expects you to spend $900 for a phone and not even provide you with what you need to charge it! I've never been disappointed with an iPhone purchase before (iPhone4, iPhone5, iPhone6, iPhoneXR) but I am now. Apple drastically lowered the bar on the standards of an apple product with the iPhone 13 (and it appears on the iPhone 12 as well from the reviews I'm reading on them). I wish I hadn't been in a pinch causing me to make this purchase without researching first, mistake on my part.

I think most people know a lot about Apple's iPhones by now.I bought the iPhone 13, rather than the 14, as it was $400 cheaper at the time and the iPhone 14 adds almost nothing over the 13 (the 14 is slightly faster and has a slightly better video camera). Not worth an extra $400 for me (and according to many reviewers). As usual the iPhone 13 is easy to use and of very high quality and durability (as long as it is in a very protective case). The only real downside, for me, is that the IOS "operating system" is not really a true or powerful operating system. IOS is easy to use and does all the expected day to day tasks but is missing many true OS features (hierarchical file system, full change and version control of Apps, access to underlying "core" OS e.g. like ... MoreI think most people know a lot about Apple's iPhones by now.I bought the iPhone 13, rather than the 14, as it was $400 cheaper at the time and the iPhone 14 adds almost nothing over the 13 (the 14 is slightly faster and has a slightly better video camera). Having been a long time Android user, I’m pleasantly surprised with the iPhone 13 and the Apple Watch Series 7

I made the switch from Android to IOS because of health issues. Specifically the Health app being much better for ECG and heart rate monitoring. I also bought the Series 7 watch. I am very impressed with the monitoring.Voice recognition on apple iPhone is more accurate and allows you pause longer when dictating. Voice recognition is available nearly everywhere.Facial recognition is outstanding.Apple Maps app is not nearly as good as Google Maps, but you can install Google Maps. The IPhone requires learning many gestures, which are not always intuitive.I miss the back arrow function in Android.Siri has many commands which makes using the IPhone very easy. The IPhone is fast and the screen is excellent.Accessories are abundant. The camera is great. The ... MoreI made the switch from Android to IOS because of health issues. Just upgraded to this from a Samsung Galaxy S10e a couple days ago, and let me tell you something. For me, this was a huge jump because I've had very little experience with iOS prior to buying this phone. And to start off, I love every aspect of this phone, especially Siri and the cameras! Speaking of which, the cameras on this thing are insane! Way less noisy and grainy in the background than my Samsung. Another feature I absolutely love is the Face ID, which detects your face almost instantly, unlike my S10e. And the last feature I really love on this thing is setting Do Not Disturb based on location. This was a feature that my Samsung did not have and I cannot tell you how helpful this is! One being that I don't have to readjust the time schedule of Do Not Disturb and the second being that it will not turn of until you're a certain distance away from that location (which can be adjusted in Settings). Overall, as a former Android user, I cannot tell you how much I love my iPhone 13! It has way more features than my old phone and it's also blazing fast! I would definitely recommend this phone!

Probably a step backward
5 April 2023

Upgrade from 8+. I thought it would be outstanding. I am usually adaptive and impressed with technology that makes using devices easier or more efficient. This phone is as heavy as the bigger one, but screen is smaller. Button on the side is more likely to turn it on while in my pocket. Face recognition is awkward, but safe. Removal of fingerprint seems to be a backward direction. Picture quality is noticeably better's well as sound.I think most people just go with what Apple gives you because there is no other choice (like me). If there were an equivalent alternative with different options, I would likely buy that.

There have also been times where drops of perspiration, hitting the screen will change a display… depending upon where the drop of sweat hits the screen. There is a glitch, when taking photos, where the photo pixilates. Most often it will normalize when retaking the photo but every once in a while, it will continue to pixelate 2-3 times… differently, with each subsequent photo.I was led to believe that I would be able to take “macro” photos. Apparently, the individual making this claim knows absolutely nothing about photography. Yes, it… on occasion… will take a decent “closeup” (not the same as “macro”) but even that can be difficult and very time consuming because the phone camera cannot decide where the focus should be. My subject of the photo, “bounces” wildly around the screen and I must ready myself to make an extremely quick shot if it “bounces” into a more desired area, compositionally speaking. It’s extremely difficult, also, to get the focus on a smaller object in the foreground, if there is anything large enough, in the background, for the camera to focus on. An example would be, attempting to photograph, say, a flower in the foreground and leaves are behind it… the focus will switch quickly from the flower to the leaves in the background. There seriously needs to be a way to set the camera to focus on the main subject and leave the background blurry. The “portrait mode” is “supposed” to this but it fails miserably the vast majority of the time and you cannot get very close to the subject in “portrait” settings.

Worst Iphone made
24 July 2023

I will start with the positive my battery life is great, takes good pictures. The negative camera comes on at random, it’s slow (doesn’t matter wifi or data), keyboard is in consistent (yes I have focused on the keys I’m typing), opens emails at random, those are the main issues. Not going to get into how bad Siri is. So these are a few issues. I rarely leave reviews good or bad but this phone is bad. I’ve had apple phones since iphone 5. I have had issues since new 1/2021. After going through support for help my phone would work fine for a few days then go right back to having issues. Yes I keep my phone updated. I will end with this maybe I got a bad one out of the batch. But this phone is poor.
