90 day trial unclear
28 June 2021

I bought the shoe online because of the touted 90 day user trial. The shoe itself is excellent however I was not really happy with the actual real life colour. However as the shipping process took forever, I was reluctant to return it. Kind of defeats the purpose of a running shoe user trial for 90 days, if it is to just be worn indoors.Unfortunately as I had already used it, I was unsure if they would honour the return, so instead of risking it, I have kept it.It might seem like a trivial reason, however considering the expensive price tag, I cannot ... MoreI bought the shoe online because of the touted 90 day user trial. ASICS Gel Kayano

These shoes are excellent and last years, especially if you only use them indoors. I have a separate pair of ASICS Gel Kayano trainers that I use for running outside, and these have also lasted really well. I have been using the various models of Gel Kayano shoes for over 20 years, and they have kept me injury free. I highly recommend these shoes for running, walking, and generally getting about. I would say to get a half size larger than your normal shoes size, as the feet can swell up slightly when you run, so having plenty of space in the shoe is very important. Very happy with these shoes.

Amazing and comfortable runners. I bought these as I'm doing a lot of walking lately as I'm trying to lose some weight. You cant beat the feel of Asics as they're the standout leaders in running footwear. I always recommend people to go and buy Asics if it's for running, jogging or whatever sports they do. Will always buy the Gel Kayano as they are best in class

GEL-KAYANO 28 - critical opinion
25 April 2023

Used to have older version of Kayanos (bought around 2012-2013), loved them! Lasted 10 years but recently outer developed few rips and I foolishly decided to replace with newer version. Now I wish I had the old ones patched up. ( BTW I Managed to re-glue the sole of my SO older Kayanos and she is still using them and prefers over any newer shoes!)The sole of my old Kayano was undestructable while the shoe provided great support and stability. Overall, best shoes I have ever owned! Should have bought 2 pairs. My new Kayano's (28) seem lighter and not so durable. They too provide good stability and cushioning, however, when fully laced up, there is space between eylets and the tounge of the shoe, where my foot is uncovered and unprotected. They too provide good stability and cushioning, however, when fully laced up, there is space between eylets and the tounge of the shoe, where my foot is uncovered and unprotected. I have to double check that the tounge is as flat as possible to cover my foot.I bought exactly the same size and width as the last time, yet its upper is completely different. How come there is space between upper and the tounge? Pics taken without socks so not as visible as when with socks. They also feel like designed to last one season. I only bought them about a month ago, and to me they already look beat up (after 6 x 2 hour outside walking sessions), while GEL-CUMULUS 23 G-TX (4months), GEL-KAYANO 25 OBI (2years4months), Trabuco Max (1 year) and GEL-QUANTUM INFINITY(3yr4months) all look like new.I would return them if I could and go for non-goretex Cumulus instead, the sole feels indestructable and my foot is properly protected in my Cumulus-G-TX's, however, these are too worm on hot days.Altogether I have 7 pairs of (casual & training) shoes, various Asics (6) and one pair of indestructible trail running Salomons, and I feel like I will be looking elsewhere for my next trainers. I will not be paying for so poorly designed yet highly priced product.Feels like overengineered or, worst, sales/data analysis people got to determine durability and quality on new models.Asics, durability was your strong point, without it, you will not be worth the price.

Heels feel like they are falling out; rude and inc
24 April 2023

Heels feel like they are falling out; rude and incompetent Asics sales info telephone agents who told me to look up width in centimetre info myself. Asics stores can't tell me the width in cm either on the phone. So I had to return so many sizes.I had very good experience with Kayano in the past, but this version of Kayano was completely uncomfortable. The width is so narrow that I had to buy 3cm longer than my true length, to try again. The shoes feel not cushioned in general, and the heels felt like they were falling out of the shoes.

Kayano 28's - you can't go wrong
15 September 2023

I've only worn the Kayano 28's once since purchase and I have to say they are extremely supportive and comfortable. I'll be using them primarily for walking and the only reason I didn't give 5 stars was that I've only had them a short time so it is hard to gauge how they will perform and last over time. I love the red/black colouring and overall style of the shoe. Perfect fit for me.

My 4th Gel Kayano shoe
3 August 2023

This is my 4th purchase of the Gel kayano range of shoe. I buy this shoe as best for my over Pronation and issues in the past with Achillies and plantar fasciitis. I find this shoe more comfortable than the Gel Kayano 27 and seems to have more support. Also the the toe area seems sturdier as found previous shoe lightweight in this area. Very happy.

My go-to running shoe
1 September 2021

When I started running, I thought shoes were just... shoes. But a proper check in a running shop made me realise that I overpronate (I land on the outside of my heel and roll my foot inward). I was recommended a pair of Asics Gel Kayano's as suitable for my running style, and I've never looked back. The 28's are my third pair and I can't fault them. They're comfortable, straight out of the box. They look good (let's face it, we all like cool looking shoes, right?) and while I might be tired at the end of a run, my feet aren't complaining. They're not the cheapest shoes out there, but they last a good long time (and even when their running days are over, they're still good for just kicking about in) and after all... your feet are hitting the ground, hard, with every ... MoreWhen I started running, I thought shoes were just... shoes. Don't you want the best protection you can get? You can buy new shoes, but you can't buy new feet!

The best running shoe (imho) you can buy.
2 February 2024

This is the third generation of Gel-Keyano running shoe that I have purchased. Each time, they feel comfortable - 'worn in' even - out of the box: I wore them a couple of times to walk in & then took them on their first run and they immediately felt up to the job. The other thing that impresses me (when compared to some other brands that I have had in the past) is that they last (they don't start t show signs of wear or fall apart before they reach 500 miles).

The latest in many pairs
27 November 2023

I am now 73 yo and have been a runner/walker and sportsman for as long as I can remember. However the result now is that I suffer from a heel spur and plantar fasciitis. I have found ASICS shoes to be the best for shock absorption and support. I change them every 300 miles and I have got through many pairs now.
