I am 6'3 and 253. I wore through shoes quickly and decided to try my best to eliminate the pains of walking and running on treadmills or outdoors. I let the running room attendant direct me to what he would recommend, which was the Brooks or The Hoka. At size 13 the options were limited.I tried them both and the Hoka was the better fit so I bought them. The first time I used them blew my mind how much better they were than the typical name-brand shoe. I will probably order this brand going forward. Zero Pain after my first run and I felt less fatigued.

Disclaimer: Always try out shoes before you buy - individual foot size and measurement can vary greatly. Good thing you're buying from The Running Room and can always visit a retail location! The Hoka Mach 5 is a very comfortable, speed-oriented daily trainer that can double as race day shoes. They're not as propulsive as carbon/nylon-plated shoes, but at the same time offer more stability and comfort, making them great for speedwork training or just everyday runs. They're also priced aggressively for this role. Fit-wise they feature the typical Hoka low heel drop and wraparound comfort with oversized outsole that prevents rolling ankles. They are just as comfortable and takes less effort to run with, thus make my runs faster.

I've had a few variations of Hoka's over the last two years and these are by far my favorite. They are light, feel great on my feet, and definitely help me not hurt as I run (plantar faciitis). I also like the style of the shoe and color options. Would definitely get these again.

Great runners. Nice amount of cushion, super light. The whole shoe portion around your foot is thin and light, seems like it'll breathe really well and makes for a nice fit cause it seems more flexible wrapping around your foot. Gonna make for a nice run. Hokas have a bit more room in the toe box and a bit wider fit, perfect for me.
This is the first time I purchased Hoka running shoes and after all of my research and due diligence I decided to get the Mach 5. I'm more of a casual runner and needed something for all types of scenarios. I was not disappointed! The shoes are so light, provide excellent cushion at the heel and because of the wide heel base it has great stability. I strongly recommend the Mach 5 and will definitely buy again once I've worn this pair out.
I've been a lifelong Nike guy. But I decided to try on a pair of Hoka's when I was in the store. The felt great. Definitely a different feel then whatI was used to. It feels like my heels sit a little lower than my forefoot which took some getting used to. Now I've been using them on the treadmill and so far am quite please with them.
I’ve been running in Saucony Ride 15’s and they are a great shoe. I’m pleased to say the Mach 5’s exceed the Ride15’s in every area: plushness, responsiveness and slightly lighter!Heel strikers will definitely feel the plush responsive sole more than mid-sole strikers. A great daily trainer by Hoka!
The Mach 5 is a great shoe. It is lite and fast and has a wide platform so the toe box can accommodate a range of foot sizes. It doesn’t have a plate but is snappy and can hold quick paces. It can handle everyday miles as well as faster efforts and long runs. The outsole is holding up well for exposed rubberized foam. Also, the colorways are wye catching and fast looking.
I bought these shoes the first week of January and have put a little over 100 miles on them so far. They are lightweight and comfortable for walking around in but doing a run more than a 5K is going to hurt. I had to replace the insoles in them due to them being paper thin. After doing a 10K in them once at a 7:30 pace I knew it was time to replace them. My shins were on fire, my feet were tingling and numb from the constant pounding, and my ankles were killing me. These shoes are comfortable for standing in, walking, running at a slow pace and less than a 5K. But if you’re a serious runner I wouldn’t waste my money.
I have flat and wide feet. I usually struggle to find a good fit and usually have to buy New Balance wide or extra wide running shoes. Wanted some thing different so I ordered the HOKA Clifton 8 wide. They were too narrow on the midsole/arch. Went to the store with low hopes of finding a comfortable HOKA shoe, specially since they don’t have wide models at the store. I decided to try on the Mach 5 and it was like having your feet in a cloud. Really comfortable and the fit was perfect despite being the regular and not the wide model. Just got back from a 2 mile jog and no issues. Would really recommend.
