Excellent boot for off track hiking. very comfortable and great grip. The main problem that I have faced is that the tread wears out very quickly (upper is still in good knick long after). Would be great if there was a vibram sole version with the same upper construction. also, goretex lining lets in water after a couple of weeks of walking.

The boots are light, almost like running shoes. Comfortable from the first kilometers. A person with a wider foot should definitely choose a product with the "wide" label

Boots ship from the vendor NOT from REI, so it takes 2+ weeks to get to your door. As you can see from the reviews they fit weird. So you better hope for the correct size when you get them. Otherwise you'll be waiting months to try and get the right fit. You can find other boots in stock that don't want you to carve your eye balls out trying to get the right fit due to the terrible logistics going on with LAS and REI. At this rate my grandson might be able to get the correct fit for me to wear in my coffin.
After a year or so water gets in from the mesh over the toes. The insole started molding, never knew this could happen in a waterproof breathable shoe. The material is degrading pretty fast also were the boot rise. I was expected more from this company. There are confortable at least but good for the garbage.
Order a 1/2 size larger. I have normal width feet and the toe box is narrow (not tight). I would not want it any tighter, but it is fine and causes no toe discomfort on descents. 3 hikes so far, 1 in snow. No moisture penetration. Really good traction and I like the close fit around the ankles. This is more of a debris protection than support at it is a neoprene type material in the achilles.Pleased so far.
So far so good but, they are a little snug in the toe box that's why I giving them 4 stars. Wish I would have gotten a half size larger. The longest hike has only been 5 miles so I can't say how they will feel on a longer journey.
I really like this boot, fits well, comfortable, no break in time needed. BUT the sole wore so quickly I was amazed. Now what? The uppers are in perfect condition and the boot is useless. Now it is off to the land fill. What a waste of materials. Do not buy this boot. It is time for the boot manufacturers to start addressing this issue. It is time for REI to start recycling their products.
I bought this couple months ago and I couldn’t be happier! These boots are incredible! They grip well on just about any colorado surface. I have hiked several 14er and long 15+ mile treks thru the mountains. The tread grip well going down hill which is huge plus! Super comfortable! And breathable!
