Ultra Raptor Mid II GTX is the mid-cut version of the Ultra Raptor II trail running model, ideal for fast hiking and hiking with light loads. Waterproof and breathable thanks to the Gore-Tex Extended Comfort membrane. The soft Comfort Collar protects the ankle from stones or mud and features the easy-fit spoiler for maximum shoe comfort. The upper is made of abrasion-resistant and breathable mesh, perfect for use in all conditions. The rear stabilizing heel pad allows for perfect control on crossings. The lacing system is integrated into the upper by means of eyelets sewn onto the inner elastic fabric and high frequency reinforcements on the outer mesh. I have tried a half a dozen boots but this pair is comfortable from the get go. These are narrow boots but switching to a wide version did the trick. These boots held up well on a 18+ miles hike with highly technical terrain. I am also keen on ankle support and these boots have just enough support to keep my ankles from turning completely. Of all the boots I tried out, I am keeping this pair.

I purchased a pair of these boots last year because they fitted my foot well. In light rain they kept the water out. Anything more than this and they were useless! I mainly used these boots for walking my dogs on the side walk. If there was any surface water on the floor it seemed to get absorbed from the sole and soak the entire bottom of my feet. It happens with both shoes and neither have any obvious holes, rips or tears. The more I wore them the worse it got and the water starts entering from the sides as well.I should have returned them last year but didn’t get around to it. I put them on again for the first time in months and after a 20 minute dog walk in the rain my feet wet all over. I purchased these recently after my other boots, another brand, leaked when I crossed any shallow streams or hiked in slushy conditions. So, first I got fitted for Salomons but they were too wide so I tried these La Sportivas and they felt great. I ordered these online but then realized that I needed a half size larger but, no problem, I returned to my local REI and ordered the next size up. I REALLY like this shoe. My wife and I will be heading to Bend, OR in a few weeks and these will definitely get a work out! These shoes seem to have a wider tread that provides super lateral support which I appreciate. Tread also has great bite in sandy and loose soil. Highly recommend!

Purchased a few months ago and have put around 100 miles in, no issues with seams or tears, water resistant enough to keep dry during whatever puddles might get splashed through, and soles are solid such that crossing volcanic areas with lots of jagged rocks presented no issues. Nice and lightweight, the toebox is a little small and rigid for my feet resulting in my toes getting somewhat chewed up during prolonged downhill sections, but that may be more just how my feet are built than an issue with the shoe. Overall pretty good, I typically prefer trail runners but these are a solid choice for when something more sturdy or protective is needed.
I have 35 miles on my hightop Raptors, loving them. Warning, they run narrow and small, but for those of us with narrower feet they are perfect. This is my 3rd pair of Raptors.I hike in the rock strewn steep trails of New England, long day hikes and backpacking. The toe guard and rock plates provide excellent foot protection. The goretex has been keeping my feet dry in the mud and wet crossings. The height is well designed for easy entry.Where will they fail? The tops have a lot of over lapping pieces which will delaminate and the fabric lace loops on my other Raptors always give way. The soles, treads and rock plates on my other Raptors have held up well.Happy repeat buyer. La Sportive makes great footwear.
This is a beautiful shoe - supportive yet light, with a solid sole to absorb the impact of rocks underfoot. The stretchy part in the back makes getting in and out of these a breeze, though one has to wonder if it will last. The only downside is that, like all things La Sportiva, the sizing is wildly unpredictable. I wear size 13 in Salomon, and according to the La Sportiva website I needed to order 47.5. I had ordered 47.5 low Ultra Raptors in the past and knew that they were too small for me by a significant margin. So I ordered 48.5, 48.5W, 49, and 49W. All were grossly large. I figured that perhaps La Sportiva has adjusted their sizing and reordered 47.5 and 47.5W. Both were as small as I remembered them to be. So I finally ordered 48 and 48W. The normal width sizes are uncomfortably narrow and constraining unless you have a very narrow foot, and 48 was no exception - right length, wrong width. Fortunately 48W (allegedly US size 14 equivalent) fits very similarly to a Salomon 13. With the Salomon Ultra line design fiasco with version 4 I will be transitioning to La Sportiva ultra raptors 48W in the future.
Order a 1/2 size larger. I have normal width feet and the toe box is narrow (not tight). I would not want it any tighter, but it is fine and causes no toe discomfort on descents. 3 hikes so far, 1 in snow. No moisture penetration. Really good traction and I like the close fit around the ankles. This is more of a debris protection than support at it is a neoprene type material in the achilles.Pleased so far.
Love these boots so much that when I found them on clearance I bought a second pair. Light enough to move fast but supportive enough to go long. Sure, if you're going to spend all day pounding down rough scree and talus or on steep snow and ice, you might want something more rigid, but I've used them multiple times on off-trail ascents/descents of more than 4,000 feet and hikes of 12 miles-plus, and they exceeded my expectations. Surprisingly tough for something so light, and unsurpassed traction on steep dirt and loose trails. My only reservation is I think the soles may wear out before the rest of the boot.
Mens 11 Regular AND Wide, both regular and leather. La Sportiva has been the standard and I've not gone wrong with their mountaineering boots. The Evo Nepal's have been the difference for me on some very large hills. The Trango GTXs, not quite at that level but still a fantastic boot. But the Raptor II Mid is subpar. I purchased these as my FiveTens (pre-Adidas) have taken a beating and considering Adidas now owns them and downgraded quality, I had no choice but to find a new pair of hiking boots for our upcoming 14ers. This boot is sized very awkwardly. I purchased the wide and regular in both 10.5 and 11 based on reviews the boot run small. My wife loves La Sportiva so I ordered the Raptor leather for her. She's never had issues with LS boots, but she experienced hot spots as well. I'm wondering if these were made for label ____'s vs experienced hikers and climbers accustomed to high quality performance and utility. My opinion is quality has taken a back seat with these boots. Maybe we are the exception but I would advise you give them a serious test run before attempting anything beyond a mild to average hike.
Love ‘em. Very comfortable, lightweight and responsive. It’s really an ankle height trail runner. Have done multiple wet trail hikes (10+miles) and my feet have been surprising dry, maybe just some dampness in my socks. You should be aware that they do run a little narrow. I ordered wide and even then my small toe rubs at times. The rubber is okay on wet surfaces-about in line with vibram megagrip. I always wish for gripper, like that from 5.10 shoes but everything is a trade off. Just make sure they fit your feet and they are a pretty fantastic option. Best mid shoe I’ve head the pleasure to wear (Solomons are a little too narrow for me). I usually wear a size 10, occasionally a size 9.5, and size 10 fit well for me.
