Ultra raptor II Mid GTX are light hiking boots that are based on the concept of running shoes. You will love them thanks to their low weight and ability to dampen every step. The upper made of abrasion-resistant fabric provides excellent breathability and the soft upper collar effectively prevents stones or other dirt from getting clogged into the shoe. The Gore-Tex membrane helps maintain a pleasant climate during colder or rainy weather. An ideal choice for everyone who does not want to wander in heavy hills. Vere WIde has a wider cut, which provides plenty of space.

I purchased these recently after my other boots, another brand, leaked when I crossed any shallow streams or hiked in slushy conditions. So, first I got fitted for Salomons but they were too wide so I tried these La Sportivas and they felt great. I ordered these online but then realized that I needed a half size larger but, no problem, I returned to my local REI and ordered the next size up. I REALLY like this shoe. My wife and I will be heading to Bend, OR in a few weeks and these will definitely get a work out! These shoes seem to have a wider tread that provides super lateral support which I appreciate. Tread also has great bite in sandy and loose soil. Highly recommend!

Love this product. But take note: If you have a large/wide foot be careful with sizing. I have 10.5 feet and they’re a little wide. Normal shoes normally fit. With this model/brand, I returned a 10.5 and had to buy a size 12 !!! … to fit lengthwise. I also would be better off (long day hike swollen feet etc.) with an EXTRA wide which is only available in the darker colours and not the brown. So wacko sizing ! Get at least 1 to 1.5 sizes longer and extra wide model/colour if you have wider feet. Aside from this sizing insanity, great great shoes.

I wonder if there are different size runs out there. I have never been able to wear La Sportiva boots. I bought the 44 Regular width last July and it's spot on for me. I have not found them to be narrow at all. Maybe like a 1/4" short. I love the tread on this shoe. Great for loose dirt and gross down climbs which is very common in CO. Also stick well to rock. My first pair had a seam in the heel that gave me blisters. Second pair after exchange, no problems. The TX 4 was too narrow for me and these work for whatever that is worth...

Just like the Ultra Raptor shoe but in boot form. Thank you AS for carrying the handsome version! The leather is an amazing touch to this style of boot. Would love to get more LS products from Europe.Sizing needs to be considered. I have the Uraptora shoes and boots in 42.5 (US8.5+) which is a perfect fit in length while holding my foot very well. There’s 1-1.5 inches for my toes from the end so I can feel the edge of ladders, rocks etc with my toes. My new balance, Vans and Addidas size is always 8.5. Those brands usually fit very well out of the box, La Sportiva Ultra Raptors fit “bespoke” in comparison. Toe box is smaller volume. I have a “Italian” foot shape (narrow, lower volume) and high arch. These shoes/boots “hug” my feet and toes when new. After break in, ... MoreJust like the Ultra Raptor shoe but in boot form. After break in, they are perfect even with foot swelling using thin Cool Max socks.Out of the box, very comfortable. Little to no break in. Achilles area has a cut out and soft fabric making it very comfortable when toe pointed downwards.I haven’t had these for long so can’t comment on longevity but if they’re anything like my shoes they’ll outperform any expectations. Don’t expect crazy durable like trad backpacking boots.Looking forward to my Via Ferrata adventure in Whistler with these boots!
I've had these boots for 2 years and have never been disapointed. They are comfy, lightweight, and great on rock. I mainly use them for summer mountain climbing, but have also brought them on winter hikes w/ microspikes/snowshoes. They have performed great every time. Especially on summer rock, they have carried me up a number of Colorado 14ers and 13ers over varied rock terrain. They are also very waterproof, and I am never scared of streams or snowfields with these on.I use more burly boots (LS trango techs) for snow climbs and bigger days, but if you are looking for a versatile boot that can definitely handle rock and trail hiking for miles on end (i've used these for 18ish mile days with a 6000+ feet of vert, and im sure they can handle more), then this boot ... MoreI've had these boots for 2 years and have never been disapointed. I really wanted to like these, and to be honest, they felt really great. However, the left boot was a little tight on my little toe. I have had this problem on other boots and shoes, so I this probably more my foot than the shoe. The right boot was very comfortable. I would say the boots fit a little small. Although still comfortable, my toes seemed closer to the end of the toe box than other boots I have had. Compared to say, a pair of KEEN boots, the toe box is tighter. I considered going a half size up, but decided to go another way.
This review comes after about 200km total ( I suspect about 1/4 of the lifespan of these boots). My last boot was a Zamberlan 309 which I found to be heavy, stiff, tough on the toes and overall not great comfort. The Ultra Raptor II has been completely different. They are super light weight like a running shoe but still offer support. So far, these boots have kept the water out but they did get wet during a massive rain storm. I found they took about a night to fully dry by pulling out the insole. They have tackled scree and I was happy to have the toe rand. Grip seemed decent, although I am a little skeptical that they may wear down quickly. The only change within 200km is the La Sportiva logo fell off... no biggie. One feature that may seem simple but I have ... MoreThis review comes after about 200km total ( I suspect about 1/4 of the lifespan of these boots). The only change within 200km is the La Sportiva logo fell off... no biggie. One feature that may seem simple but I have really appreciated is the elastic heel band on the top. It makes it really easy to pull the boots on and off but doesn't take away from support.I just wish this boot/shoe hybrid was not so pricey. They should last a good amount of distance but for being synthetic they are in the price range of full grain leather boots!
After a second year wearing these boots I would like to update my review to a 5. I have completed well into the 300km range with these boots and they are still holding up very well. The boots have travelled through some tough backpacking adventures and continue to remain sturdy and reliable. The grip wear worries that I mentioned in the last review are no longer because the main tread is still in good shape and the boot has remained grippy in some pretty rough terrain. The support has also remained strong even when carrying a fully loaded pack. I've also been walking through streams and they are still keeping my feet dry.I noticed that you can buy a leather version of this boot now, and that may be more up some people's alley but whatever you choose I highly ... MoreAfter a second year wearing these boots I would like to update my review to a 5. I'm really happy with them!
on my endless search for light, supportive boots that I can hike and go on 3-4 day backpack trips in the rocky mts, I thought I may have stumbled on the answer, but...They are comfortable with a nice balance of support and cushion. they work well with Superfeet adapt hike insoles, too. But, I'm hiking in the GC in 50deg this winter with DT light socks, and my feet are boiling!!! I don't think my leather boots get this warm. How am I going to use these in the summer? Perhaps the Goretex comfort lining is an anomaly, but I expected a synthetic boot to breathe better. These do not breathe at all, they are brutally hot.
I had the SYNTHETIC version for the last year. Used them almost everyday for all types of terrain. Hiking trails, rock scrambling, gnarly climbing approaches, dog walks, roofing jobs, etc. Love them. When one of our foster puppies chewed up the ankle support area I figured I'd order the leather version and give them a shot. They are not the same feeling and perform differently than the synthetic. Mainly the ankle support is a bit stiffer, which I don't prefer. May be better for some. They are also roomier or just slightly larger than the synthetic version. Which for a thicker socks going into winter will be good but they don't have the honed snug feeling the synthetic versions have for me. The leather are great just slightly different.
