The SCARPA Veloce LV climbing shoe offers comfort and technology with a special focus on indoor climbing. The new FKJW last has a square toe profile with quite a wide heel, so will fit a wide range of foot shapes yet maintain enough support, sensitivity and power to climb high end grades with ease and without the usual rock shoe pain. This means you can train or climb harder for longer in the Veloce. The new PAF is like a shock absorber in the heel and works by absorbing over-compression in the toe box by but does not reduce the power available to you. The microfibre upper offers a smooth, elasticated upper which is extremely comfortable. The twin ply microfibre gives the upper the ability to be resoled several times and easily washed. The upper is mapped around the toes, matching the last, giving a soft next to skin feeling immediately and without pressure. Wave strap system locks the foot in for fast and flexible closure and reducing excess layers for greater breathability. SCARPA's new S-72 super sticky rubber ensures great friction even while pasting on volumes and smears and a the tried and tested M-50 toe patch keeps those toe hooks locked in place. The Veloce has been made using Vegan friendly materials and glue.

I have not been climbing long so buying a pair of shoes was a hard decision. I didn't like the rental shoes but had done some research and chose the Scarpa as my first ever real climbing shoe.I bought these in June and received them quickly through RIE. I am normally a size 10 but had sizes down to 9.5. They were a little tight but I was able to break them in easily. I have climbed hard and really enjoyed them for slab climbing. They feel comfortable, I rarely take them off between climbs.I have loved my Scarpa and if you chose them as your shoes. I'm sure you will love them just as much as I have.

Due to a very wide forefoot with bunions and a narrow heel, I tried on a LOT of climbing shoes. The Veloce had the most room in the toe box of all the intermediate shoes I tried on. I've worn these shoes climbing about twice a week for six months and they have been great. My street shoe size is 8.5 and I got the Veloce in 39.5. The fit is tight enough that I have to take them off between climbs, but they work perfectly on the wall (5 11 a/b climbs). They are very soft which I prefer over the very stiff-soled shoes, but probably not a shoe to use outdoors.

I absolutely love these shoes! I will climb anything in the gym in these. I have other shoes but I always gravitate to my Veloces for both sport and bouldering. I sized down quite a bit (USW 7 down to an EU 36), they stretched out a good bit and seem a little bigger than other Scarpas. I have a VERY narrow heel and they fit fine but now 6 months later the heel cup has stretched and the looser fit makes it feel like my feet my slip out of my shoes when heel hooking. I have climbed A LOT in these so it doesn't really bother me (4-5x a week, approx 12-15hrs of climbing/week for 6 months). The toe has still retained it's slight downturn over time. I know some people don't like these for small/chip like footholds but I have no issues at all. Out of all my shoes I trust ... MoreI absolutely love these shoes! Great for high volume heels
19 June 2021

I often have a really hard time finding shoes that fit my feet - my heels are fairly high volume for a woman, but my feet overall are so small I can't find men's shoes that are small enough (I'm wearing EU 36.5 in these). Usually with most women's shoes, if the fit is good in the heel width then they are so long I can curl my toes away from the front, or the length is good but they pinch way too much on my achilles tendon and the pressure point under my ankle bone. I was hesitant to try these because so many reviews rated the fit poorly, but then I realized those reviews are probably from people with narrower feet who are more used to finding shoes shapes that work for them. If your feet sound like mine, give these a try.Performance wise I'd say they're a good ... MoreI often have a really hard time finding shoes that fit my feet - my heels are fairly high volume for a woman, but my feet overall are so small I can't find men's shoes that are small enough (I'm wearing EU 36.5 in these). If your feet sound like mine, give these a try.Performance wise I'd say they're a good moderate shoe for indoor sport climbing or bouldering. The toe downturn is noticeably more helpful than a flat shoe, but it's not Instinct or Solutions level of toeing in. Edging on the outside of the shoe isn't perfect but totally serviceable if you have fine footwork. Really good heel hooks (again though, may be specific to my heel shape). Quite sensitive and flexible through the midsole so you have a lot of foot control. That plus the velcro closure system makes it easy to personalize the fit around the midsoles, so these really felt like wearing socks. These won't be the best shoe to break out for sending that overhung V9 project with tiny chips and I think the sensitivity could make it hard to climb big wall or trad, but I'm very happy with them as my go-to bouldering shoe (particularly given how hard it is to fit that right shaped shoe for my feet!)

Great intermediate shoe

Pros: amazing grippy rubber, instant comfort, doesn't stretch too muchCons: WIDE heel, rubber wears easilySo I got this shoe after my 'first' pair of climbing shoes, the Scarpa Origins. I instantly felt so confident in these shoes and felt great smearing and climbing on tiny foot chips. I would have sized down to fix the heel issue but my feet are pretty small so I got the smallest size available at REI. I would consider them true to size in terms of length. Out of the box they are so comfortable and don't really need a break-in period. The wide heel made me very wary but I was able to manage a few aggressive heel hooks. I really hope that they fix the wide heel in the future because they would easily be my go-to shoe once they do. I wouldn't recommend this shoe for beginners because of the easy wear, but it's a great shoe for intermediate climbers or as a warm-up/easy session shoe for someone more advanced.

Indoor training shoe with durability issues
13 July 2022

This model was not available at my local REI, so I had to buy online. I upgraded from the La Sportiva Tarantulaces, and the veloces were significantly smaller than those! My street size is 40 EUR, and I was a size 38 in tarantulaces. After learning that veloces run half a size bigger than other scarpas, I bought a 38.5 in veloces. The shoe is soft and has a wide toebox so 38.5 is wearable, but I feel like a 39 would’ve still fit snug but less painful lengthwise. These performed well, they are sensitive and grippy, and the heel rubber has been helpful for getting some new sends, but my biggest gripe with this shoe is the durability. Quite unfortunate especially at this price point. Definitely do not take these shoes outdoors if you get them.Overall, those are good if you climb mostly indoors and are looking to upgrade from an entry level shoe. They just weren’t durable for me.

So comfortable and functional
21 June 2022

So comfortable a lightweight. My instinct laces took forever to break in at the same size and still hurt. These are a dream! Great smearing. Good edging. Not ideal for heel hooking as there isn't much cushion or grip, but that does make them more comfortable so I don't care that much. If I need to heel hook I can use other shoes I guess.

Very good gym shoe
3 December 2022

I’ve owned a lot of shoes, almost all La Sportiva. This shoe is closest to the Skwama, but is softer, narrower, and a little less capable. However I really like it as a gym shoe. I generally climb in the 5.12/v7 range comfortably and haven’t thought of my feet as a limiting factor. They feel slipper like, very comfortable, but they don’t breath much. I think my feet sweat more in these than any of my other shoes.

comfiest climbing shoes ever

LOVE these! I have been climbing in them for a few months now and I feel like after two weeks they broke in! I can go a whole session without taking them off. The heel does feel a little large but when I heel hook, I still feel secure. They do stretch a little.

excellent feel for hold texture and footholds

These are my first moderately aggressive shoe, and I had been advised to aim for a soft last to help me feel the wall better and develop my footwork.... as an upgrade from my old entry level tech-fit shoes, I immediately felt like my footwork was a half grade better from being able to feel the intricacies of the wall better and plan weight application.street size 44.5; typical gym size 42.5-43; bought these in 42 (ALLLMOST went down to 41.5, but I love my toes too much still)... I'll keep an eye out for loosening in the heel as mentioned by others, but for now both heel and toe hooking have seen a vast improvement (5.11 and v2/3 footwork had been my biggest challenge and I feel like I'm going to progress a ton in these)... as others have stated, I also feel that ... MoreThese are my first moderately aggressive shoe, and I had been advised to aim for a soft last to help me feel the wall better and develop my footwork.... as an upgrade from my old entry level tech-fit shoes, I immediately felt like my footwork was a half grade better from being able to feel the intricacies of the wall better and plan weight application.street size 44.5; typical gym size 42.5-43; bought these in 42 (ALLLMOST went down to 41.5, but I love my toes too much still)... I do still have about 1-2cm of hook/loop closure, which seems sufficient for my level of strain on the wall even when applying a lot of twisting pressure.having previously tried much stiffer aggressive shoes and finding that they weren't for me (at least yet), these feel like a truly excellent gym shoe... definitely get something sturdier for outdoors.
