The archetypal high quality touring tire. The Marathon has a highly elastic GreenGuard layer 3 mm thick to prevent flats. One third of the GreenGuard is made up of recycled latex products. The “Anti-Aging” sidewall can withstand the typical cracking that results from overloading due to insufficient inflation pressure for much longer. An extremely cut-resistant hightech fiber makes it possible to ensure even on very light tires an extraordinary high level of puncture resistance. The Marathon is a great upgrade for commuters, since oem tires on hybrid bikes are generally pretty vulnerable to punctures. It’s also a great choice for touring bikes, where you ride long kilometers with weight on your bike, often submitting the side-walls to debris from the road. If you want a long lasting tire, and the peace of mind that comes with resistant puncture protection, the Marathon is the go to tire.

Fitted these tyres to my Giant Defy Advanced to try and improve grip as we approach winter because the country lanes I use get very muddy when it rains, which happens a lot in Scotland! There are also a lot of fallen leaves and gravel at the moment. Used them this weekend for the first time and what a difference, so much more grip which inspired confidence and made the ride a pleasure rather than a worry. I bought the 28mm with tubes to replace the standard 25mm tubeless. They were easy to fit, seem very sturdy and I even like the reflective sidewalls which I wasn’t sure about. A bonus is also a more comfortable ride, I might even leave them on come spring. Usual speedy delivery from Rutland.

I use these for a 46km daily commute 2 or 3 days per week on sealed bike paths. These are very well manufactured tyres. They fit the rims on my hard tail e-mountain bike easily and the bead locks into the rim firmly. they are a solid construction. The weight of these tyres is noticeable and does impact the turn in feel. That said the handling is OK on a paved path commute, the rolling resistance is OK. The turn in to corners is very sharp, but once in the corner they are resistant to changes of input. The soft tread ridge on the middle of the tyre seems to rob you of a little consistency in feeling the path. But these are small niggles. Over all I am very happy swapping to these tyres. My previous tyres had better rolling and better handling, but were extremely puncture prone and very difficult to fit. The Schwalbe Marathons tyres are a big improvement and seem to shed small particles like little shards of glass or stones that my other tyres would collect. I have done several weeks of commuting and no punctures so far. I think my relationship with these tyres is going to be a long and happy one.

The Schwalbe marathon tyres fantastic reputation is well earned. They are grippy in all conditions and are much quicker to ride on than they look like they will be. I swapped a pair of 23c conti slicks for 25c marathons and the only difference I notice is more comfort and grip. I expected some lag but have noticed none. They really are a great tyre. They're a bit heavier but I've not really noticed it riding. Only negative for me was that they were the tightest tyres I've ever tried to fit. After fitting tyres onto bikes since I was a kid this was the first time I ever had to google how the hell to fit a tyre on. I had broken 3 plastic tyre leavers at that point. My wheels are pretty skinny deep dish wheels and honestly, without following the tutorial I found from a ... MoreThe Schwalbe marathon tyres fantastic reputation is well earned. Rest assured though that if you follow a bearded cycle expert on youtube, or are indeed yourself a bearded cycle expert, then you'll have no problems fitting them. Once they're on the wheels they're a brilliant set of tyres.

I've spent 50++ years riding skinny tired bikes (27 x 1-1/4). I've had this bike for 45 years. I was the manager of sporting goods service for Sears during the bike boom. I was paid to assemble my first bike at 12. I've seen somewhere between 20 and 30,000 bikes. My last set of Panaracers lasted a long time, they had very low rolling resistance pumped to 90psi. I was concerned the Marathons without a distinct center rib and lower pressure would drag down the bike but the reviews were great, step up cost wise from Continentals. They were easy to mount, just rolled them on with my hands. They seated immediately, no need for a "pop". Went 70psi front, 75psi rear to soften bumps a hair. Holy #$$%%^$!!!!! They roll like a dream. When you look at where the dirt is and the tire wears, the outside set of "knobs" rolls right up to the genius siping grooves. I'm shocked at how good these really are.
Schwalbe Marathons are simply fantastic tyres. I bought this pair of a new-to-me Giant Expressway folding bike. The difference in ride between these and the stock Kendas is remarkable. Whereas the Kendas felt like you were ploughing sand over 15km/h, the Marathons just roll and roll. These are 20x1.5 and I really appreciate the extra comfort too. And no punctures EVER. Yay!
Like I said in the headline, I LOVE these tyres. Upsized from 40-559 to 47-559, and switched from M+ down to Marathons. Really happy I did. They're lighter, roll better and are noticeably more comfortable.Pity about the delivery. I've bought a bit of stuff from Bikeinn and it's been pretty seamless but this time it was rubbish. 24 days to deliver from ordering, supplied with the wrong tracking number, and literally no way to break the impenetrable wall that is tradeinn customer service. But hey, they got here in the end.
Very happy with my purchase. They provide so much comfort, it is a perfect Tyre for commuting. My bike is a late 90's steel road bike, origanlly fitted with 700x23c tyres however the frame allowed me to fit 700x25. Great Brand, great product.
I have a set of Marathons on a touring/commuter bike that are 10 years old. No cracks, no rot, great tread, can still read every letter on the sidewalls. My other set of Marathons are winter studs that sat on a 90s winter beater MTB in the basement for 10 years. The bike rusted and galled but except for some rust on the replaceable studs, the tires are perfect. How does Schwalbe do it?
