I'm a long time buyer of Birkenstock sandals (been wearing my arizonas since 2009) and have owned many variations including the clogs, arizonas, and gizeh sandals. The Mayaris are a perfect cross of the comfort of the arizonas and style for the gizeh. I typically wear my Arizonas as they are the most comfortable style of Birkenstock I've tried and the gizeh to go with summer dresses but I prefer straps over the top of the foot rather than the thong/flip flop like sandals as those are harder on the feet after a long day. The Mayaris may be uncomfortable at first or may take some getting used to if you're not used to wearing straps around your big toe but once they're worn in they're a great fit. Overall would recommend to everyone who is looking for a comfortable sandal that looks great with cuter summer outfits!

These are unfortunately not at the typical Birkenstock standards that people perceive. My MIL wore themPeriodically/seasonally for a year and the cork on both soles is completely cracked where the ball of the foot lands and the leather strap broke on one side at the toe, and is 2/3 of the way cracked through on the other shoe. Very disappointed in the quality of this shoe with minimal wear on a very petite woman. For the amount of wear and length of time they lasted, I would be better served buying her shoes from Walmart. This was ridiculous. No warranty anymore through the manufacturer either on any Birk products.

This is my first pair of Birkenstocks. They are very cute and they fit perfectly. I found my correct size by trying on in a local store. I've just started breaking them in by wearing inside for a short while at a time. This is not really the pair of Birkenstocks I wanted to order for 2 reasons. They are synthetic "leather" and I'm fairly sure real leather would be more durable. That may not even matter however because according to reviews of this style I have read on other sites, the toe loop often breaks before the rest of the shoe is worn out. I ordered it anyway because it is the only Birkenstock LLBean offers in the regular width. All the others are narrow, and although I always wear a regular B width shoe the narrow Birks don't work for me. I did get a great ... MoreThis is my first pair of Birkenstocks. This is my favorite style of Birkenstock. I have tried the classic Arizona and the Gizeh. My foot slid too far forward in the Arizona and the Gizeh was uncomfortable between my toes. I tried to like them for two years before deciding they just weren’t making my feet happy. I have plantar fasciitis that makes shoe buying a pain, but otherwise normal feet. These shoes are light, comfortable, and versatile. I have had no issues with sore feet or uncomfortable rubbing. I’m very happy with them. I measure a 7.5 and bought a 37. It seemed like a small size to buy but they fit perfect.
I have ongoing plantar fasciitis and finally broke down and purchased Birkenstocks upon the suggestion of my podiatrist. I always resisted them because face it - they're ugly. Lately though, the designs have been cuter and come in a wider selection of colors. I bought these because the toe strap stops my feet from sliding over the front lip. The minute I put them on, my foot pain goes away. I wear them in the house from dawn to dusk and my foot never hurts. I guess my foot doc was right!
I was searching for a sandal that would support my foot and still look great. This sandal is perfect for me. The straps are not leather which might be good as then I can walk in the wet grass with them. They will also be great to wear when I am standing for long periods of time. The first pair I received was defective (fixed toe strap different lengths) but the 2nd pair was good. Thank goodness for Altitudes easy returns. They fit a bit big.
When I first got these, and mind you it took an act of God to get me to buy them, I was encouraged to buy them as my feet needed a good shoe. The first two weeks I almost cried because they were so uncomfortable! But I read somewhere that they needed to be broke in, so I toughed it out. I have to say, I am so grateful for these shoes. THEE most comfortable sandle I have ever worn, I am a mess without them. I do have to say, the cork cracked by the big toe where the stap is. I hope I can mend them, but I was told these Birkenstocks last for years, so I will see how this goes!
This is my first time purchasing Birkenstocks. I really like the look of the Mayari. I chose the Stone color. It is neutral, between a grey and brown. I like the crisscross style, which holds my foot in place since I usually have trouble with my feet sliding forward in sandals. These fit well and initially feel good walking around. However, my feet were sore after wearing them for several hours the first time. Maybe I need time to break them in. I’m hoping that’s it, since the description refers to the footbed eventually molding to your feet over time.
These shoes were great, they lasted three and a half years before obvious signs of wear started showing. I can still use them if I wanted but I'm upgrading to a new pair. I live in SoCal so they got year round use. They lived through lots of walking. I also wore them through a pregnancy, they were perfect when my feet would swell. I love these shoes and will be buying another pair soon. It did take a couple of days of breaking in when I first got them but it was worth it for the years of comfort they provided. So comfortable, supportive, and the mocha color is so versatile. You do have to take care of them by cleaning the footed and cork. At one point I had to buy a cork sealer to keep the cork from drying out too much. I honestly think they would have lasted long ... Like all Birks, life with these sandals started off dreamy. They’re comfortable right out of the box. I went with a size 38 and I typically wear 8-1/2 in most shoes. Perfect fit! Over time though, the cork starts to crack on sides where the short strap over your big toe runs across the cork. This is true for the mocha and black pairs I have. But today, the strap over the big toe completely broke while in the grocery store. Purchased in October of 2020 and I live in the PNW so they only get summer use (June-Aug)—these shoes should last longer. If I were you, I’d buy the Arizonas instead. Sadly, the Mayari’s will break your heart!
