A shoe I want to love with caveats

I bought the recommended size and my foot felt like it had been crippled because of the sidewall of the foot was not wide enough. Despite measurements saying it would be sufficient the fabric wall would rub at my foot and hurt my foot bone. Through trial and error I kept changing sizes and was limited by waay too long or way too narrow. At the end I had to settle for a mens 8 triple wide. I havd been wearing it for a minth now and thankfully it does not cut off circulation. I did notice after standing in them for 7 hours a day two days in a row my legs were so fatigued and it didnt offer enough support for my high arches. I bought a dr schools high arch insert and that helped alot. But i still feel fatigued if I wear them for long periods. They have been more finnicky to deal with, with my feet than with my years of nikes. Said to be good for sxercise but way too bulky and inflexible to be practical as a gym shoe. I still will wear it and dont mind it but I reccommend checking all your options first.I am sad that the color options are limited in triple wide and think hoka needs to survey out there users for fit since reading past reviews, others need a wider shoe too.

Good Walking Shoe

I walk daily...low impact use. The shoe fits true to size. The fabric is soft and the toe box is deep enough so that there is not any pressure on arthritic toe joints. I purchased the Bondi 7 for the sleeker look compared to the Bondi 8 that I purchased and wore for a couple of weeks prior. The Bondi 7, while having very good shock absorption, is slightly firmer than the Bondi 8. Having arthritis in my back and feet, the shock absorption cushion is very important to me. Also, the Bondi 7 slips at my heel while the Bondi 8 does not...even after lacing through the very top holes, there is some slipping at the heel. I am wearing the Bondi 7 for short walks only as I am concerned about getting blisters from long exposure to the slipping. These two issues equal 4 stars.

Great cushion & comfort but wish I bought a wide.

Unfortunately after this initial transition, I realized (too late) that about a 1-1/2 to 2 miles into my walks the outter edge of my left foot starts to hurt and a blister starts to reform on the heel of the same foot. The only conclusion I can come up with is that my left shoe is just the slightest bit too narrow. Otherwise these would probably be the most comfort able shoe ever. I'm saddened that I missed the 30-day from purchase window. I wish Hoka had a longer guarantee window like Brooks' 90-day Satisfaction Guarantee. Between the 7 days to arrive, multiple rounds of inclement weather, & transition time there was not enough time to accurately access the shoe.I don't think I will be able to continue wearing these shoes for longer distanced walks however, for short jaunts or everyday wear, they are extremely cushy & comfortable. I'm betting they would be perfect if I had a wider size. My suggestion for Hoka would be to extend the guarantee to at least 60-days.On a side note: My dogs surely prefer these shoes since there's more cushion & bounce back for them when they step on my feet. Cause who wants paw-print-free shoes, anyway.

Help with heel pain
28 March 2023

I bought this hoes in 2021 when my doctor suggested for me to wear HOKA for my plantar fasciitis. At first I was hesitant to buy it because it was expensive and I was wearing ASICS shoes that I also love. But it was time to replace my ASICS so I purchased this in 2021. I wore this shoe everyday- casual, doing earrands & working out. It was so comfortable and helped my ankle and did not feel any heel pain. Now, 2023- I had to replace this shoe because I can no longer wore it due to hole inside (ankle part) and the metal is potruding thru the hole that makes it too painful to wear. I guessed I cannot complain because I wore this shoe everyday from 2021 up to Feb. 2023. The shoe is lightweight though it is bulky, but so comfortable most impt no heel pain. I Would Purchase Again!
7 February 2023

So these are the first "high dollar" shoes I've bought. After seeing so many people at the hospital where I work wear them and reading an article that said these were good for plantar fasciitis I decided to try them out. They've turned out great so far. They aren't amazing, but they're so much better than my usual/go to shoes for work. I ordered my normal size & they seem to fit well. They're sturdy, yet still have some cushion. I have wide feet and these don't have a lot of stretch, but I like my tennis shoes a bit on the tighter side. They do rub on the back of my Achilles tendon, so I would beware of that. I'm not sure if I should've got a larger size? They don't necessarily help with my plantar fasciitis, but I feel like they do a better job throughout the day ... MoreSo these are the first "high dollar" shoes I've bought. LIKE WALKING ON A HARD CEMENT FLOOR
31 October 2021

I had a cheap $20+ Warehouse Tennis shoe that was killing my feet now that I am walking my dog over 2 miles a day. I researched for a comfortable shoe and decided on the Bondi 7 from all the positive reviews. I felt if they were all true, these shoes would be worth the high price. These are an attractive shoe and was excited to experience walking on a cloud. Sadly, these shoes are so hard, no cushion, like walking on a hard cement floor. I purchased Dr Scholls's Thin Gel inserts to add some form of cushion comfort. The toe box is high; however, an inch from the first row of the shoe lace to the toe box is dipped making a super snug constraint. The inner arch support was sharp on the bottom of my feet and added to the discomfort -- the gel inserts softened the sharpness of the insoles's edge. The side part of the shoe from the 3rd lace to the 1st is real snug -- not sure if going to end up being painful after walking in. These shoes are light weight and remind me of the boat sole shoes that advertised one would loose weight while wearing. In looking at the construction of this shoe, I do not see any difference between the two inexpensive shoes I owned that still look new after several years of casual everyday walking in. I am disappointed that these shoes are NOT comfortable, were like walking barefoot on a hard cement floor, and needed a Gel Insert. With adding the Thin Gel Inserts, I could get the same comfort as the inexpensive Warehouse or SuperStore on the rack running shoes. I now don't believe all those positive reviews on the Hoka website. (5.0' tall, 110 lbs, Size 6 Regular Habor Mist/Sharkskin Bondi 7 Running Shoe).

I have bursitis of the hip which is extremely painful. When it flares up, I need lightweight, cushioned footwear - and it's a constant battle to find lightweight, cushioned shoes that LOOK GOOD. I can't say I love the look of sneakers in general, but at least these are a nice bright orange with a big thick sole. One could *almost* (but not quite) say they looked like platforms. So they aren't something I'd pick out to wear if I didn't have to, but they make a huge difference to my stupid hip. I could walk for hours in these, and often do. If I wear these enough, I can get away with wearing a heavier, less cushioned shoe once in a while. Like when people are going to see me.As everyone says, these do run big. I usually wear a 9.5 - 10. Until I developed a persistent case of plantar fasciitis, I was a devoted customer of a different (popular) running brand. I tried to muscle through, but found that I eventually could not run with my old brand, no matter what I tried. Out of desperation, I tried these shoes about a year and a half ago. I will admit, it took me a little bit to get used to running with such "big" shoes. It did NOT take me long to get used to running without the pain though! My feet were almost immediately improved-enough that I went out and bought s pair of hiking Hokas too! Now I am on my second pair of Bondis (and by the way, these shoes last much, much longer than my old running shoes! The quality is amazing. I hope it stays that way now that they are so popular) and still able to ... MoreUntil I developed a persistent case of plantar fasciitis, I was a devoted customer of a different (popular) running brand. Plantar Fasciitis Relief
18 May 2023

I’ve had chronic foot pain & plantar fasciitis for over a year. This is the third brand of running shoes I’ve bought in the last 5 months to try to get some relief. I’ve been wearing the Hoka Bondi 7 for about 2 weeks & I can now walk 7 kms with the dog again without limping home. My feet are starting to feel a lot better. There was no 'break in' period required. They fit perfectly & are very comfortable. They are not overly attractive looking, but I’m not wearing them in a fashion show. I opted to go with Hoka Bondi 7 rather than the Hoka Bondi 8 because most of the reviews I read indicated people were less happy with the newer version. They are expensive running shoes, but for me they are well worth the money & I couldn’t be happier with them.

I had been struggling with pain from walking so much and from my overweight as well. I decided I'd purchase HOKA after all the good reviews and articles I researched.Apparently based on my different shoe size, HOKA recommended I try an 8, I usually buy shoes 7 1/2 to 8. The 8 fit me perfectly and it has plenty of room for my toes to wiggle and be free to move up and down as I walk. I noticed my ADIDAS with memory foam where hurting me so much because they were low, flat, and the top/tip of the shoe was so tight that kept putting pressure on my toes. The ortho HOKA shoes I got not only have a soft sole, my feet have plenty of room and its bottom is big, (I think it made me 2in taller) the sole/bottom part doesn't hit the ground so hard where it makes your knees ... MoreI had been struggling with pain from walking so much and from my overweight as well. That part took a little bit to get used to.If you've been having doubts and you're in too much pain, I suggest you give HOKA a try. 10/10 recommend. Your feet will thank you.
