My cat has inflammatory bowel disease, and every now and then has a terrible flare up. When he does, he will avoid what ever food I had been feeding him at the time. So I have to switch foods. He can't have any grain or pea protein. This food is very expensive, but he loves it and has had no tummy issues since starting it. He is eating voraciously! I always put hot water in the food, especially after the can has been in the fridge. This makes it smell better to the cat so he is more likely to eat it. It also gives him some additional moisture.

My senior cat loves mack & lamb canned cat food and has been toerating it well for about a yr now she immediately drinks a bit of water after b/cause it is drier pate than her jucier KOHA kangaroo, which she also likes. Both have very fresh aromas when opening cans. She has severe digestive issues so muh so we thought she was going to die. after much trial & error we determined she had food sensitivites to all the common protein sources e.g. chicken, turkey, tuna, peas. cannot at all tolerate dry food in any form, Slowly we switched her to canned pates, venison first - ok for just a little while, then rabbit - a no go, then single source lamb just ok for a little while. Finally tried mackeral & lamb & voila. Good healthy stool, no vomiting as long as not "overfed" ... MoreMy senior cat loves mack & lamb canned cat food and has been toerating it well for about a yr now she immediately drinks a bit of water after b/cause it is drier pate than her jucier KOHA kangaroo, which she also likes. Good healthy stool, no vomiting as long as not "overfed" (tiny tummy tolerance for food in general), feeding schedule had to be changed dramatically, only 1 t at a time every 30 min for 3 hr, twice a day alternating this with KOHA kangaroo same volume. loves it. Lots of work & $$$ but well worth it for us and her. her coat is lovely, for the first time in her 16 years she has an appetite and is eager to eat. the only downside, she sometimes spits up/out the bone fragments in the food - so we try to pick out the larger ones leaving the smaller ones since bone is part of the healthy nutrient base.

To take a long story and make it as short as possible, I have a male cat (now nearly 10) who almost died because of a crystal blockage when he was younger. He was put on a prescription dry food and I was told it'd be a huge risk taking him off - that he essentially needed to be on it for the rest of his life to "survive." Three years ago, I started doing research on cat foods [who would have thought it'd be important to read pet food labels like I do with my own?] and that's when I first heard the term 'species appropriate diet.' Cats in the wild eat all parts of their prey and they get much of their moisture intake from them as well. I read how detrimental dry food was and I began the slow, 1-2 month process of switching my cats over to wet food. I read how detrimental dry food was and I began the slow, 1-2 month process of switching my cats over to wet food. After reading articles and advice from holistic veterinarians, I eventually weened my guy off the crap prescription food and onto healthier wet, dehydrated, and raw foods. This brand, this company, this is as good as it gets [without making your own of course]. I believe ZiwiPeak raises and kills animals in a humane manner. Yes, you pay more, but do you see what isn't on the label? Additives, fillers, meat-by-products, nothing is there that doesn't need to be. It's obvious ZiwiPeak uses more of the animal (lung, liver, heart, etc.), which not only provides your cat with greater meat/organ variety, but I know the animal that was killed is being used as much as possible and not wasted. My 10 year old guy and my 2 year old bengal love ZiwiPeak. I buy the Beef and Lamb flavors as the mixed protein options are more expensive. While my boys like both, I can tell they like the beef better. The quality is superb and it is worth every damn penny.*Edited to respond to a comment that I was unable to address below* It's unfortunate that someone would leave a comment to say my story is false. I'm not sure why anyone would make up a story about their cat almost dying, and then wholeheartedly recommend a food they (as the owner and cats) love. I love the quality and the product, and I believe I explained that well above. I'm certainly not against other high-quality foods - in fact, I have other brands I recommend if ZiwiPeak is too expensive. For example, I love recommending RadCats (raw food), Stella & Chewy (dehydrated), Primal (dehydrated), The Honest Kitchen (dehydrated, but only if you need to feed your cat a lot of calories), and for more affordable wet food options, Newman's Own, Castor & Pollux Organix, and Wellness.

I feed this canned food as part of a very old Tibetan Spaniel's rotation diet along with the mostly non-fish based Tiki brand canned foods. She is 17 and likes/tolerates very few commercial or homemade foods. This she eats fairly well, though she does prefer the broth and shredded meat Tiki formulas to pates. I like her to eat ZiwiPeak as well because of the higher levels of organ meats, something lacking in most of the Tiki formulas except their "After Dark" line.Ziwi's ingredient lists are sometimes inconsistent, on some agar agar is listed and sometimes chick peas. Other lists don't have either. My current case doesn't list taurine among the ingredients, possibly an oversight in the printing, not vital for a dog, and my cats don't get it as an exclusive diet ... MoreI feed this canned food as part of a very old Tibetan Spaniel's rotation diet along with the mostly non-fish based Tiki brand canned foods. All in all the brand seems very high quality and unlike Tiki relies on food ingredients more than supplements. Premium ingredients naturally at a premium price. Worth it in my opinion.Update- According to the manufacturer there is more than enough naturally occurring taurine in the food due to the high meat and organ content. This makes sense and explains why it is not listed as a supplement. Most cat foods require supplemental taurine due to borderline (or virtual lack of) meat/organ ingredients.

A Great Pick for Cat Parents!
28 January 2024

There are quite a few reasons why I love this product. It's suitable for cats of all life stages. The meats used are ethically sourced and it's perfect for picky eaters. Grain-free and low in carbs, it includes superfoods and is rich in nutrients, which is something I always look for in a cat food. It has no added fillers, the protein content is high, and it supports joint health too. I even use it as a topper for dry food sometimes. All in all, a great product!

A High-quality Meal for My Feline Friend

This product has been exactly what I was hoping for. The moisture-rich texture is perfect and provides the hydration my cat needs. What I truly appreciate is that it's a complete meal, eliminating my worries about supplementing other nutrients. The whole-prey ratios maintain my cat's interest every time. Additionally, the fact that this product uses ethically sourced meats gives me peace of mind about my purchase. Needless to say, my cat loves it too!

Everything except the chickpea is species-appropriate for our little obligate carnivores, and the variety of organ meats included is also a plus.My two kitties seem to like it fine. One does prefer the Instinct brand wet foods but is willing to eat this as well, which is good because I hate to be locked into just one brand.I'm not sure about the other reviews that say it stinks. It's not odor-free but to me it's not a strong smell. I'd say maybe those people got a bad batch but I've been serving this for a few years and it's always seemed the same to me.

Mr Meggs has been enjoying intermittently, with his science diet biscuits, and he goes crazy, for ZIWI! A half can is enough for a meal, cover, and pop in the fridge for the second half, them for a few days, the Science Diet biscuits, are his staple! He always has a moist nose, drinks lots of water, and I monitor how much I give him( usually a half cup, morning and night.) He's totally indoors with a run, specially built for him, but is keen on 'zoomies' every afternoon.I keep him groomed..never seen a fur ball regurgitation, yet!! He is a 5 year old rescue cat, Ginger, and gorgeous company!!

Great for urinary and overall health

I sought out a better food for Thomas for a while and had a difficult time, as pet food companies are notorious for not always being the most transparent. Male cats are at a higher risk of developing struvite crystals, potentially leading to a urinary blockage. Some of the biggest contributing factors to this is lack of hydration, having very basic urine (high pH/low acidity), and consuming a diet that is too high in carbohydrates. Different sources may vary, but a good rule of thumb is that cats should be consuming less than 10% of their calories from carbohydrates. Now, most conventional/popular cat food contain a carbohydrate content ranging between 35%-50%!!! Another amazing thing about this food is that it contains an essential amino acid called DL-methionine which has a plethora of benefits, but to let everyone in on a little secret: DL-methionine is what is put into "prescription" urinary cat food... This food contains DL-methionine without tricking you into the whole "prescription" scheme, and at a comparable price without sacrificing the integrity of ingredients. Overall, the ingredient list on this food is wholesome and does not seem to contain any unnecessary or unhealthy fillers. I highly recommend trying this food for your cat, especially if struvite crystals or urinary health is a concern of yours!

Thrilled with this High-Quality Cat Food

This product is really great and my cats absolutely love it! It's moisture-rich and highly palatable, which made the transition to this food easy. The fact that it's made with real meat and is high in protein is a huge bonus. Plus, it's a limited ingredient diet, which is perfect for my fussy eaters. Also, it's suitable for all life stages and breeds. I appreciate that the company uses ethical and sustainable ingredients. I couldn't ask for more in a cat food!
