Anakee Adventure vs Anakee III

It was not difficult to initiate a turn but I believe the tread pattern offered some resistance when beginning a turn. I also think this tendency diminished as the front tires wore. I probably could have ridden with them for another 1,000 to 1,500 miles but our club was taking a 2,200 ride and we were facing potential inclement weather. I wanted the peace of mind new tires offer. These are excellent 80/20 tires for the BMW GSA. Excellent all weather grip, long lasting, smooth and stable. I recommend them to anyone looking for an all weather tire.

Consistently the best tire for my use

I ride year round in northwest Washington state. I run the Anakee Adventure rear down to freezing temps, often on wet pavement. No other mixed use tire comes close to the pavement performance of this tire. It doesn't look cool like a Trailmax Mission or Tractionator GPS, but it will lift the front wheel in second gear in the rain when it's 35°f. Those others simply spin or skid. I have run several of these now and average about 9,000 miles use. The Anakee Adventure is very durable and reasonably quiet at freeway speeds, great on gravel, not good in sand, mud, or wet grass. I ride fairly enthusiastically.*My experience, yours will surely vary.-m-2015 YAMAHA Super Tenere 1200 ES--

Decent Tire. Maybe not for bigger guys if you're looking for longevity.

I bought my BMW R1250GS Adventure with these tire and so far I think they're pretty good. I have just over 9K miles on them and the rear is toast. I hoped it would last longer. I started seeing wear around the 5k mile mark and it has quickly increased since. This is to the point that I have ridden less to prolong the tire life and only make short trips for now. My front tire probably has another 3-4k miles left on it. I'm a larger guy so that could play a role. Overall, they're comfortable and handle very well in substantial lean angles and off-road. I've never had these tires slip outside of practicing in cones [and running them over]. If they lasted 15k for me, then I'd absolutely get them again. They ARE noisy however. You eventually get used to it.

Fantastic street-biased tire
11 September 2024

Full disclosure, I've only had these tires on the bike for about 750 miles, so I can only report on performance, not longevity. I have a 2012 Vstrom 650. I installed these tires myself with levers and a balancing stand. The were an order of magnitude more easy to spoon on than the Trailmax Missions I used to have on my old Tiger 800. That said, the front was a real bitch to get the bead to seat. None of these are issues if you don't install your own tires. As for the performance of the tires themselves, I absolutely love them. I live in Colorado and have subjected these tires to many conditions. So far, I've tested these tires in pouring rain, highspeed highway drones, twisty canyon roads, and on some light fire roads. I mostly use my Vstrom for canyon runs and commuting, and these tires are fantastic on road. I tend to ride pretty spirited, and these have given me the confidence to ride right to the edge of the tire. They feel totally planted, regardless of weather, and feel like grippy road tires when pushing on at a sporty pace. They also were decent on a hardpacked dirt road. I am much more of a street rider than a dirt rider. These tires feel good on a maintained offroad surface (hard pack dirt, light gravel, etc.), but they don't feel like they made for really gnarly offroad. That should not be surprising given their tread pattern.Overall, I really love these tires. They feel fantastic, and other people's reviews give me good hope on getting decent milage out of a set. I only deducted 1 star because longevity is still unknown at this point. Would recommend overall for street-biased riders!

Great Tires BUTTTTTT
6 May 2024

Michelin makes good tires. This Anakee Adventure is a good tire but don't plan on high miles. My 2nd pair and the front is pretty much toasted wedges on left and right with plenty of meat on the center strip. I don't ride straight for super long distance. I only ride forest roads occasionally where these do fine and about all a sane rider wants to put a BIG bike through in the dirt. The front especially has very little tread on the sides from new. The math is the math. Likely will not get another pair. Rear is holding up well at 3000 and could make it to 5k. There is no severe lip or edge cupping. These tire handle nicely and can take the GS Boxer to lean angles the bike is not consistently being pushed to.

Great performance and confidence wet and dry on a heavy ADV bike
1 July 2023

Michelin Anakee Adventure tires came standard on my 2022 BMW R1250GS Adventure from the factory. I've ridden around 4200 miles on them so far, recently from Kansas City, MO to the national BMW MOA Rally in Richmond VA and back fully loaded. 95% of my riding is highway with an occasional detour on gravel. These tires have performed well in both. Confidence inspiring in the rain and wet braking. There is a slight amount of tire noise at highway speeds but this is expected from an 80/20 tire and it's not enough to make me want to change tires. Tracks straight with responsive turn in in the corners. And I think they look great on an ADV bike. Very little wear showing for 4200 miles. From friends that have them, I expect long life out of them and will replace them with ... MoreMichelin Anakee Adventure tires came standard on my 2022 BMW R1250GS Adventure from the factory. As a long distance truck driver I trust Michelin tires for safety and longevity on our tractor trailers and would not settle for any other brand, especially on my motorcycle where tires are so critical to safety.

Great tyre
12 July 2023

Came stock on my V85TT. An unrepairable rear puncture meant a rear replacement at 2500 miles. The OEM tyres are from the Thai factory, the new one from Visor shop is from Spain. Don't suppose it makes any difference. I replaced like for like due to how much life the front still has. I'm mainly a road rider. These tyres and excellent and confidence inspiring in the dry, and also give great grip and good feedback in the wet. They barely tramline even over the rubbish roads we have here with poor patchy repairs and significant surface wear in lots of places. I generally run stock pressures 2.3/ 2.8 bar. Tried experimenting with pressure but always end up back there. Some complain they are a bit noisy in the road, I don't find that, but it makes sense looking at the ... MoreCame stock on my V85TT. I used proper tyre soap. Did take almost 4 bar to seat the bead! No dot to indicate the heaviest part of the tyre, I ended up with 40 grams of weight for an almost perfect balance.Good price from Visor shop(cheapest I could find) and available from stock. I understand as of June 2023 there may be a supply issue from Michelin.I would definitely buy again, however next time I will likely need a pair of tyres so I may go for a 90/10 or full road tyre, not because there is anything at all wrong with these, more to suit the type of riding I do

Over all great tire, a little noisy
20 September 2024

I have them on a 19 Africa twin. Before these tires I had the Bridgestone a41 adventure tires which are mostly a road tire. I ride mostly road so they suited me. I did want some more off road friendly. These anakee tires are great! They handle very well on road and off road they are a night and day difference from the old tires. They feel stable and they don't just "let loose" as soon as as they start to slip. I only have around 200 miles on them at the time of this review. The front tire is less "rounded" than the a41 adventure tire, so it takes more steering effort in the corners on the road. Also is a bit noisy on the road. Hopefully the noise doesn't get louder and when the tire wares down it still has close to the same traction as it does now.

Premature tire failure

I recently purchased a anakee adventure from ghe local motorcycle shop. I chose this tige because it was recommended by them as the best tire available for where we ride. I live in Alaska and it would Have been $70.00 plus to ship it back. I am very disappointed in the service and assistance I received from them. They offered me a 9% discount on a new tire ! Many of my friends have larger and heavier biked BMW 1250’s and ride together we me on these trips. They did.not have tire problems like I experienced I believe that Michelin makes a hood product but this tire for some reason was substandard. I am asking that Michelin stand by their products and replace this tire at no cost to me. Thank you for your consideration and I look forward to hearing back from you

Stick to The Pavement
2 July 2024

I saw many people in the reviews saying this tire performed well off-road even as an 80/20 tire, & it's true, as long as the ground is completely dry. The pavement is where this tire truly shines. The tire has drastically reduced the amount of wobble I get at interstate speeds on my '23 KLR 650. Also, I've been able to corner at greater speeds with more confidence. I took the bike off-road onto a trail that any 2WD truck could easily navigate & this is where I realized the limits of this tire. The ground was only slightly muddy, but I was slipping & sliding all over the place. If you're planning to do more touring riding on your bike, these tires are perfect for you. If you're like me & want to tackle some aggressive trails & commute to work, just suck it up & buy ... MoreI saw many people in the reviews saying this tire performed well off-road even as an 80/20 tire, & it's true, as long as the ground is completely dry.
